Last Wednesday, our collaborator and translator of Where Land Ends, prof. Andrius Valevičius, took part in a meaningful Black Ribbon Day event at St. Paul University in Ottawa, attended by more than 100 guests.
Black Ribbon Day, observed on August 23, commemorates the victims of the totalitarian regimes of N**i Germany and Soviet communism and serves as a reminder of the importance of freedom, democracy, and human rights. It marks the anniversary of the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, whose consequences brought suffering to millions across Central and Eastern Europe. 
The evening featured an inspiring address by Greg Fergus, Member of Parliament and former Speaker of the House of Commons, who delivered a thoughtful and engaging presentation. As a gesture of appreciation, the organizers presented him with a copy of Where Land Ends.
