We tell the stories of those daring enough to create, through conversations with musicians, entrepreneurs, and real humans who aspire to have a positive impact. Throughout its history, the Nashville-based podcast has released hundreds of episodes, featured guests from five different continents, and received thousands of music and interview submissions from artists all over the world. The Quinn Spinn was conceived by Gerard Longo, who christened himself with the college radio moniker of “The Quinn” at Moravian College (Bethlehem, PA), from 2007 until his graduation in 2010. It wasn’t until a few years later, however, that this passing activity would become something more. On August 17, 2013, Gerard had a rare Saturday night to himself. He decided to wind down by unearthing some episodes from the college run, hoping to dive into something enjoyable before the rat race of corporate America came calling again on Monday. However, it didn’t take long before this plan to wind down would backfire. As he was listening to these college-era episodes, Gerard remembered the show’s loyal listener base -- “maybe 10, 15 people tops” -- who would tune in and provide content every single week. As he remembered the fulfillment that came from this experience, Gerard found himself energized at the midnight hour. The fuse had been ignited.
“It was time to find my purpose,” he said. “I told myself that night that I didn’t care if it was the same 10 or 15 people. I just wanted to have an impact.”
A few weeks later, The Quinn Spinn’s first episode was released to SoundCloud on Sept. 8, 2013. From that point, the show has taken on various forms over the years, from the “full-cast, morning show” feel of its formative episodes, to the interview series it has become. The Quinn Spinn can now be heard on streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Anchor, Stitcher, and many others. And, for as far as we’ve come, the show remains steadfast in its mission to tell the stories of those daring enough to create. Presently, The Quinn Spinn serves as the official podcast and point of origin for Nashville media company, Underground Music Collective (UMC). UMC offers a variety of multimedia services to artists in Nashville and beyond, while highlighting musicians and creative professionals worldwide on a daily basis.
