I just put two & two together 🙇♀️OMG
I have the MTHFR gene varient. I have known about it for approximately 10 years when I did genetic testing with dna fit. I had all kinds of health problems at the time and was chalking them up to getting old and perimenopause.
I found when I didn’t eat certain foods I drastically improved, all the decade long brain fog gone after I stopped eating wheat products.
I found a diet for fructose malabsorption on an Australian Facebook group that seemed to explain it all. My digestion improved immensely, no more having to take medication for all the reflux, bloating and gas that was going on.
However, it didn’t change all the piles of pounds that I had accumulated over a period of 5 years in my late twenties. I was screwed after dieting for 2 decades starting at the age of 13, I gave up trying to change that fact, I was going to have to live with them and I did, I stopped questioning it and just bought bigger clothes, went on vacation, learned to downhill ski, played golf, enjoyed meals without endlessly questioning myself. My weight stopped climbing.
When I tested with DNAfit not much was available in understanding the connection to of the MTHFR gene and folic acid. Nothing was said about it by the nutritionists I was following. At the time it was all about being gluten free, which I did diligently for a year but I discovered this wasn’t the problem as all the testing I did indicated I was not the least gluten sensitive. I wondered how come not eating wheat bakery products had improved my well being tremendously.
There is much more for me to share about this but I want to get this information to you. If you can’t afford testing just follow the recommendations. If you’re unwell with many mysterious health problems I’m sure you are trying everything anyway.
This blog provides very conscientiously
about what this is all about and what you can do about it.
