We hope everyone is enjoying the summer!
Sorry to make you think about "back to school" for one moment ... If you are a parent of a JVH student, please give us a minute. 🙏

At the AGM in May, we did not get any volunteers for the office of Treasurer. ⚖️
Our current Treasurer will no longer be a member of the JVH PAC in September and therefore cannot continue in the role. (No longer parent of a JVH student)
We need a parent to step forward willing to do a bit of volunteer work ... It's not that much really, but it is essential to find someone so that grant funds can continue to flow to the youth of Kaslo from BC Gaming. 💸

JVH PAC's second online 50/50 draw.
Fundraiser for J.V.H. Eagles sports teams to get new jerseys! (This was interim Principal Monica Doyle's suggestion)
Support the youth of Kaslo to represent their community with pride and athletic excellence.
All proceeds after prize and fees will support the sports teams at Kaslo's public school.
Winner will receive a cheque for $500. (or half of total sales)
Draw will take place in Kaslo in front of JVH school on Monday June 23 at 10am.
Ticket sales end at midnight on Sunday night, June 22.

What's a PAC? - a conduit for communication between parents and the school community, and a vehicle that parents can use to organize and get things done, when desired.
The JVH PAC will be holding our Annual General Meeting on May 21 at 6pm in the school Library. Preceded by regular meeting at 5. Hear about our achievements this year. We started some easy-to-run ongoing fundraisers to benefit students.

The PAC needs to have minimum 4 meetings per year, and sometimes they have been held monthly when there is enough participation. If the PAC doesn't have an executive elected at the AGM, then the youth of the community miss out on $4k in free BC Gaming grants which PAC allocates to extracurriculars. A reminder: All JVH parents and staff are members of PAC!

I encourage parents to get involved in their school's PAC. A meeting a month isn't much and it's good to be more informed, and be part of the conversation. Want to see a new playground structure constructed? Form a committee and fundraise!

We will need a new Treasurer this coming year, and we will need a Vice-Chair as well. I have been Chair this past year but will not be a member of the JVH PAC next year. I have had kids in Kaslo's school since 2010! It would be great if some parents of younger kids had capacity to get involved.
JVH School will have a new principal for the 2025-26 school year.

This is your invitation to the May 9 all-ages Kaslo Square Dance at JVH, a community builder and school fundraiser organized by the Intermediate 2 students as part of their financial literacy (and event planning!) unit.

We have a great line up of local musicians (see attached poster), including the just-announced addition of fiddle player Aurora Smith. (Big thank you to all of our musicians.)

The square dance is listed on the fb Kaslo Community Web events page––please feel free to share it with your friends! Tickets are at the front desk and Sunnyside Naturals.

We hope to see you there and build further connections together!
