I got up extra early a couple of days ago for a road trip to see the Fall colours. I could barely get out of my own neighborhood when I saw the fog! So beautiful! I had to pull over as the sun rose and started to burn through the fog.

Oh how I’ve missed this view in the Fall!

Built in the 1880’s, Doube’s Trestle Bridge was once a railway line between Peterborough and Lindsay. It served both passenger and freight trains until 1978 when all rail service ceased.

It became part of the Trans-Canada Trail and was beloved by walkers, cyclists, snowmobilers, and nature lovers.

Then in September 2024, the bridge was severely damaged by fire (arson) and declared impassable. That section of the trail was closed. To the delight of many, it was reopened almost 2 months ago.
