Farm Shop hours are changing! 🍂🤎

Labour Day Monday will be our last day of regular seasonal hours for the season. After that, we’ll be switching to our fall hours:

🍂 Saturdays | 12–4pm

We’ve absolutely loved our first Farm Shop season and getting to meet so many of our longtime customers in person, along with so many new faces! 🥰 We’re excited to keep welcoming you to the Farm Shop on Saturdays throughout the fall — and hopefully right up until Christmas! 🎄

A few weeks ago, Evelyn got to make some of her Joy Jars for the sweetest occasion 🌸🥺

One of our friends was hosting a baby shower for her sister and asked Evelyn to make little flower arrangements for the tables. She was SO proud to pick the flowers and put each little jar together for such a special day! 💛

And getting to see her Joy Jars captured so beautifully by the very talented Kayla Le Franc Photo makes it even sweeter! 🌸

Spent this gloomy day in the kitchen packing away a whole bushel of Niagara peaches for the months ahead 🍑

Canned in a light syrup, which was sweetened with some leftover honey from last years harvest 🍯 Northumberland Bees | Bees, Honey & Skincare

These are destined for school lunches and after-school snacks, but the kids are already asking when they can crack into them 🤣 They’re going to have to wait a little while!

And with nothing going to waste around here, the chickens and pigs were more than happy to take care of all the peach peels! 🐷🐓🍑

✨ Farm Shop Feature Friday 🌾

This week’s feature is an extra special one for us, because Lee-Ann, the owner of Laser Creations- Laser Cutting & Engraving also happens to be Ashley’s mom! 🥰 When we decided to open up the Farm Shop, we knew we had to have some of her creations available!

You’ll find some of her premade signs available in the shop. A variety of beautiful decor pieces for your home, or they make a great gift! Lee-Ann also creates custom pieces, offers DIY sign kits, and hosts workshops where you can make your own creation — and she offers fundraising opportunities as well!

If you have an idea for something custom, or you’re looking for a fun workshop to do with friends, be sure to reach out to her!

Yesterday was a big tomato harvesting day! 🍅

We used to cook all of our tomatoes down into sauce and can it for the winter months, but over the years we’ve found a much easier way — and honestly, it’s become our favourite!!

Today I washed up yesterday’s harvest, cut the tops off and removed any blemishes, and packed them into freezer bags. Then they go straight into the freezer just like that!

Throughout the winter, whenever we want to make tomato sauce, pizza sauce, or need tomatoes for a recipe, we just pull out however many we need. Once they start to thaw, the skins peel off SO easily! 👏 No blanching, peeling or big sauce-making day required!

The tomatoes that aren’t quite ripe yet get tucked into a bushel to continue ripening off the vine, and we’ll add those to the freezer as they’re ready.

It’s such a simple way to preserve a big harvest, especially during this time of year when there always seems to be something else that needs harvesting or preserving (I’m off to pressure can more beans as we speak 🤪) And come winter, we still get to turn our homegrown tomatoes into whatever we feel like making! ❤️🍅

It’s a little hard to believe our very first Farm Shop season is already starting to wind down!!

Opening this little shop was something we had dreamed about for a long time, and getting to spend our first season meeting so many of our longtime customers face to face, and welcoming so many new ones, has made it even better than we imagined! 💛

So while Labour Day Monday will be our last day of regular seasonal hours, we’ve decided we’re not quite ready to say goodbye for the season!

The Farm Shop will continue to be open Saturdays from 12–4pm after Labour Day! 🍂

Thank you for making our first season such a memorable one! We hope to see lots of familiar faces throughout the fall 🥰
