From snowy pastures to the holiday table, our Christmas turkeys are almost ready! 🦃❄️

Our pasture-raised Christmas turkeys will be ready for pick up starting on December 23rd! As we approach processing, we have opened up a couple more preorder spaces for those hoping to add a local turkey to their holiday meal.

If you have already preordered, we will be in touch the evening of December 22nd once final weights are confirmed.

Where did the rainbow go?! 🌈

You may notice our cartons looking a little less colourful this time of year, and here’s why…

Different chicken breeds lay different amounts of eggs each year, and egg production is closely tied to daylight and temperature. White and brown egg-laying breeds tend to be higher producers, especially through the winter months, while many colourful egg layers naturally slow down or pause altogether.

Fun fact: egg shell colour is determined by genetics, not nutrition or flavour! 🥚

As our ladies take a well-earned seasonal break, there may be fewer colourful eggs in each carton. While the rainbow may fade for a bit, the care we give our hens, the quality of our eggs, and the delicious farm-fresh flavour remain exactly the same 🤎

It all started with just two cows and an empty hay field surrounding our newly built home. From there, we built everything from the ground up — fences, shelters, gardens, routines, and dreams! 🌾🔨

What was once bare land has become our little piece of paradise… a place where our kids grow alongside the animals, where we raise and grow our own food, and where hard work has shaped something we’re incredibly proud of! ❤️🏡

Saying yes to those first cows opened the door to providing our community with locally raised, sustainable food and starting a chapter we never could’ve imagined. The best kind of adventure! 🤎

I think it’s safe to say winter is here to stay… ❄️

These short cold days may not be keeping the chickens cooped up, but it has sure put a chill on their egg production! 🥚🐔

Did you know?! A hen needs 14–16 hours of consistent daylight to produce an egg. These shorter days and really cold temperatures make their bodies take a natural break from laying 🌨️

While the ladies rest, we’ll have fewer eggs available — a little reminder that farming moves with the seasons, not the calendar 💛
