If you are looking to help!
Our hearts are with everyone in Summerland and the surrounding communities who were evacuated last night. 12,000 people have been forced to leave their homes, carrying the uncertainty of not knowing when they can return … or what they may return to.
This wildfire season has already brought so much loss and fear. Families, seniors, children, and individuals across the province are staying with loved ones, in hotels, in temporary shelters, and in some cases in their vehicles as they search for safety. Many more are facing the daily impacts of poor air quality, disruption, and worry for the people and places they love.
United Way BC stands with the communities affected by these wildfires, and with our own staff, partners, and neighbours who live and work in impacted areas. Even while carrying their own concern and uncertainty, they continue to show up, listen, connect with local communities, and help identify where support is needed most.
Donations to United Way BC help support local partners providing immediate assistance, while also contributing to longer-term recovery, resilience, and care for communities as they rebuild in the weeks and months ahead.
