had a tragedy last week as many followers know by now.

I will post more in tribute to Twister soon, but I want to introduce the idea I had while laying awake half the night during the thunderstorm, wondering again what parts of Twister's life are going to improve the lives of others, even it it had to come through his death.

So I started a GoFundMe, if enough money is raised, so that in Twister's honor we can purchase emergency Equine equipment and training for our rural emergency crews.

Check out the link, I hope it makes sense - I welcome feedback on this very important project as well!!

This video is of Twister's last evening on this earth. I thought he was picking up after we rolled him over. I thought maybe we could figure this out. Vet thought giving him meds and time might be enough. Now that I know how hard it is to find horse rescue resources in our area, I would have done things totally different when I first found him. But I can't know if something else was going on, I strongly suspect there was, or he should have gotten up, at least when we tried assisting with the tractor I would have thought he could have gotten his feet under him. But we didn't have proper equipment and things slipped. Had vet out, firefighters, family, friends to see what we could figure out. Called emergency lines and posts on Facebook to try to locate equipment. But by midmorning the next day I knew he was done. People offered to bring equipment or figure things out later that day, but it was already getting too late.

Of all the horses I've lost over the years, this has to be the hardest. He felt like the "heart" of Heart Echo Equines, he was there for me, my kids, events, and many EAL learners in his 6 1/2 years with me. We can't go back and change anything, but we can move forward together and process in a way that honors what Twister started.

This morning I woke to a tornado warning, and it felt different than ever before - a reminder of how a Twister can show up and disappear again and leave us all changed.

Goodbye my friend πŸ™

Merrylegs is excited to let us know it's finally spring, haven't even had any snow for a week now! She says her favorite part about spring is the green grass, what's yours?

We had this snow until a couple of days ago, finally yesterday and today we had some warmth, but everyone was getting pretty grumpy! Anyone else extra glad to move on from the snow?

Ok so here's the reveal you may have been waiting for!

There was a Mouse running around with the pasture horses posted yesterday...

It is awkward to add a Mouse to a farm where there are plenty enough mice already...

Unless the Mouse you are adding is actually another horse!

Welcome to the beautiful chocolate Rocky Mountain mare, named "Mouse", to the Heart Echo Equines herd!

It felt right that she join us after the hole that Butterscotch left.

So far she is fitting in fabulously, developing connection and finding her place 😍

Seeing Sage Cantering Tonight πŸ€©β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ˜ It started out as such an uncertain rehab, and still has a ways to go getting feet into decent shape. But she has already started some meaningful horse -human connections, and my heart is overflowing with the improvement she has had since January β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

As an aside... Does anyone see the Mouse out there? If you know, don't give it away. More on our Mouse status to come πŸ‘€

My cute Arabian boys πŸ’– Seeing them run across the pastures with tails and noses pointing to the sky feels like freedom 🐎

A picture like this may bring different emotions for different people; what do you feel when you sit with it for an extra few moments? How do feel if you make intentional space for that emotion?
