In the midst of the dog days of summer, here's a throwback to winter with professional photographer Mark Gallup's most published image of his career.

Mark shares, "Andrea Binning finding herself in a predicament as we watched from a helicopter.” The photo was taken on a shoot in the Coast Mountains’ Waddington Range, an expedition based from a 140-foot yacht anchored in a fjord to the west. Binning was able to point her skis across the substantial sluff and avert a 60-foot cliff below. She cartwheeled down a chute, losing everything — skies, poles, and pack. And dislocated her knee. “But after that, we went fishing.”

Mark is an adventurer, observer, and icon. And Jayme Moye tells the story behind the life and lens of Fernie's most far-out photographer. Read it today at https://www.thetrenchmag.com/stories/mark-gallup

An old woodshed turned world-class distillery … welcome to Stolen Bell, Golden, B.C.’s newest small-batch sanctuary where craft spirits meet mountain-town soul. It’s a scene of local botanicals, a marvel of a still, and a team who tweaks flavour profiles based on bar talk down the street.

Next up? A cocktail lounge that’ll serve the future of local spirits before they hit the shelves.

And why Stolen Bell, you might ask? Read the full story written by Jacquie Moore at thetrenchmag.com and find out!

From LA to Manila, Kimberley filmmaker Trixie Pacis searches for story.

How does she fit it all in? One moment, Kimberley's Trixie Pacis, 35, is accepting a prestigious TV award in Los Angeles; the next, she's wandering through the neon-lit streets of Kyoto. She surfs in the Philippines, skis in Kimberley’s backcountry, and leads a workshop on mountain filmmaking in Nelson. Her social media is a steady stream of film festivals, backcountry expeditions, and beaches.

Pacis is a gifted filmmaker whose work is about resilience, ascension, and documenting untold stories: forgotten adventurers; an artist dangling from a glacier's ceiling; immigrant communities carving space in unfamiliar landscapes. They’re stories of people pushing beyond their comfort zones and redefining what is possible.

🪡 Get your gear repaired for free in Kimberley this weekend!

The Re-Hub Repair Tour will be at the KOREfest + Localpalooza event in the Kimberley Platzl June 28-29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. fixing people’s outdoor gear for free.

🧵 Professional repair technicians and a fully equipped mobile unit will be on site during the event and people are encouraged to bring soft goods including jackets, tents, and sleeping bags to be repaired. (NOTE: please remove excessive duct tape from items before delivery.)

This summer the Re-Hub Tour has already visited Revelstoke, Castlegar, Nelson, and Creston and repaired around 150 items including broken zippers on tents and holes in jackets.

🎿 People are also encouraged to bring hard goods like broken tent parts and ski bindings to the Re-Hub booth because will be on hand running a pilot project to assess the scope and need for repairs of outdoor hard goods and non-textile gear.

The overall goal of the program is to learn what’s broken and collecting dust in garages around the region and get a sense from the community about interest in a potential repair hub based in the region.
