Between YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and other social media apps, for both my personal brand and Limestone Lures, there are a lot of accounts to juggle!

So I've decided to try out using Professional Mode on my personal Facebook account. It's not much, but cutting out even one of those accounts will just make things a bit simpler for me!

So what does this mean? Truthfully, I'm not entirely sure. I'm not terribly well versed in the different aspects of professional mode vs a Public Page. What I can tell you is that there won't be new posts on this page for a while while I give Pro-Mode a try.

If it turns out I like it better, I'll eventually close this page to avoid confusion, but in the meantime, it will stay up until I get a better handle on which direction I plan to go!

Had an awesome day at the second annual Kayak Bass Canada Big Bass Smack Down at Charleston Lake! This one uses a unique format where it takes your biggest bass from the morning and afternoon period to make up your 2-fish virtual stringer. There were also prizes for the biggest bass for each half of the day and overall biggest bass!

It definitely switches things up in how you have to strategize and plan your day, specially as conditions change and the fish mood with it. I had a plan with Rick and Alan to make a big run in the morning before the "Lines In" so we could be at a prime spot to start the day.

As in typical fashion for me, however, I got to the launch point later than I wanted to, arriving at about 6:40am, 20 minutes before official lines in at 7.

I suggested Rick and Alan to head on without me since they were already on the water and ready to go, but after I had dunked my Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 in, I saw they were both still floating around. Turns out Alan was having issues with his new motor. We sent Rick out to carry on with the day while I stayed back to help troubleshoot.

By the time we got it fixed, it was about 9:15, leaving us with only 45 minutes to land and log the biggest fish we could before the 10am morning cutoff. Neither of us got anything worth submitting, effectively taking us out of the running for the podium for the rest of the day.

But that didn't really matter. What mattered is that Alan and I were able to get his new motor running so he could enjoy using it worry free for the first time.

There's two things I know for a fact:

1. I would not have been able to focus on fishing, knowing my friend was still back at the ramp, potentially struggling to figure out the problem and;

2. If the situation was reversed, I know Alan would do the same for me in a heartbeat.

My friends are far more important to me than any competition or prizes. And anyways, there was no prize pot more valuable than seeing my best bud as happy as he was to be in his new kayak with a working motor.

Friendship is the best ship.

A full circle moment, right before the Big Bass Smackdown.

This time last year I picked up my Tactical Pro 128 from Frontenac Outfitters and pulled an all-nighter rigging it out, getting it ready to fish for the very first time at the 2025 Kayak Bass Canada Big Bass Smackdown the next morning. Tomorrow I'm doing it all again in the same boat (with some upgrades and minus the all-nighter 🤣)

And there's some extra news to go with it. I was recently invited to join the Wilderness Systems Ambassador Team. It wasn't something I had applied for, so it caught me off guard a bit when the Canadian team manager reached out to me directly. Of course I said yes! I love this kayak and I've fallen in love with the brand Wilderness Systems continues to build!

Between Frontenac Outfitters AND Wilderness Systems, I'm feeling pretty grateful that I get to now work with two amazing brands.

And if you're coming out to Charleston tomorrow, I'll see you there in the Big Mean Green Machine! (Maybe thats what I should name my TP128...)

Easily the best coffee I've had in Kingston.

I'm not much for fancy brews: latte's, cappuccino, that kind of stuff. I enjoy them, of course, but my favorite is just a plain coffee with some milk. If I have a great quality roast, I'll even forego the milk and keep it black.

After hearing about St. Lawrence Coffee Company, a veteran owned coffee shop that roasts their own beans in house, on location, launching along the waterfront recently, I couldnt wait to get down there to check it out. So one morning earlier last week, Magdalena Dicks and I decided to take a walk to find it.

I couldn't help but to laugh at the fact that its literally a sea can plunked along the lakeshore trail just east of Lake Ontario Park, and then learning that the owner was a former Lineman in the Army. All I could think was, "That tracks, he's probably used to working in seacans all day long, so why not?!"

We couldn't stick around to fully take it in, and it was busy anyways so I didn't want to disrupt them talking shop while they were trying to serve caffine deprived patrons. But I can tell you, it was arguably the best coffee I've had in a long time. Their bean blend was absolutely perfect, so much so, that I regret adding milk to it.

If you've heard about it but haven't tried it yet, I definitely recommend taking a walk and enjoying your favorite blend while taking in the gorgeous Lakeview. If you have some time to kill, park your car at Lake Ontario Park, and walk the path east past Providence Care until you come to the seacan behind the old Asylum.

It's worth it!

Fishing the Limestone Lures Road Toad on the St. Lawrence river in my Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128

It's been almost a year since I picked it up from my friends at Frontenac Outfitters and I haven't looked back once! There are days when I'll spend 8-12 hours on the water in it and nothing hurts when I'm done. The purpose designed capacity for bow and/or stern mounted Electric motor does more for me than just make fishing easier and more enjoyable, it makes it possible for me to be on the water for that long in the first place.

I didnt even realize it until this summer. Peddling my old kayak wasn't a problem, peddling it ALL DAY was, though. Not because my legs are weak, but because my feet are. I was diagnosed with bi-lateral plantar fasciitis last year after dealing with chronic pain for a number of years. Earlier this year I started receiving cortisone injections (very painful procedure) directly into the arch-side of each foot. The pain relief is immeasurable, but my feet fatigue quickly, specially following a treatment. So peddling would be an absolute no-go for me, and paddling, while mostly upper body, would still aggravate it due to having to brace against foot pegs. Both would be a nightmare in any kind of wind and waves.

But now, I can sit all day in my TP128, stand to fish as tolerated, and still leave the water not feeling absolutely drained at the end of the day. Sure, it takes some of the exercise out of fishing, but when I'm kayak fishing, I was never there for exercise in the first place. I'm there to fish.

And this kayak makes that so much better for me.

And for the record, I bought a boat, and I'm still in my kayak 90% of the time.
