What a weekend! We celebrated the wedding of our daughter Amy to Eric Fairless. After two years of dating and ten years of being engaged, it finally happened! It was a beautiful outdoor wedding in Delhi, Ontario. Special thanks to my brother Greg Coles for officiating the ceremony. Amy & Eric just purchased a house and need to get back to Edmonton for the closing and the move which takes place tomorrow. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Fairless!

This is the 3rd park in a 21 day, 7 park trip in northern Ontario along the Boreal Route. We camped at Esker Lakes Provincial Park from Wednesday July 30th to Saturday August 2nd, 2025. As a bonus, we stopped at Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park along the way to check out the trails and the falls that people keep telling us that we must see. It did not disappoint. At Esker Lakes we paddled in Panagapka lake and were delighted to be watched by a curious otter as loons swam nearby. We checked out the park and enjoyed times with our friends.

Watch Cheryl's terrifying trek to the top of the Temagami Fire Tower! This is our second park in a 7 park, 21 day camping trip in Northern Ontario along the Boreal Route. We camped at Finlayson Point Provincial Park Park from Sunday July 27th to Wednesday July 30th, 2025. We explored this peaceful little park, kayaked on Lake Temagami, visited the town of Temagami and of course, climbed to the top of the nearby Temagami Fire Tower. This is our first park in a 7 park, 21 day camping trip in Northern Ontario along the Boreal Route. We camped at Marten River Provincial Park from Thursday July 24th to Sunday July 27th, 2025. We were fortunate to be there for a demonstration of logging skills from Fleming Loggersports. We toured the logging museum and saw a blacksmith at work. We kayaked in the beautiful Marten River as well as hiked and cycled on the trails. Kelly and Jamie surprised us with Christmas in July and we had an overall good time. We are currently on our 21 day, 7 park trip up north doing a mini-boreal route. We're doing Marten River PP, Finlayson PP, Kap-Kig-Iwan PP, Esker Lakes PP, Kettle Lakes PP, Ivanhoe Lake PP, Wakami Lake PP and Halfway Lake PP. In the mean time we have a Battery Review for you. We reviewed the 300 amp hour Vatrer Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery, testing it in a real camping experience. We used it in our 30 foot travel trailer for a 3 night camping trip without hookups. This battery worked great and the Bluetooth app kept me informed of all my power usage in the trailer.

We camped at our all time favourite Ontario Park campsite, at Pog Lake Campground in Algonquin Provincial Park from July 11th to the 15th, 2025. From hiking the brand new Fork Lake trail, to cycling the Old Railway Bike Trail, to paddling in kayak and on paddleboard on Pog Lake and the Madawaska River, this trip was just what we needed. It's been years since we've camped at Elora Gorge Conservation area and we almost forgot how great it is and so close to home for us. It was a hot weekend with the humidex in the 40s. Cooling off by tubing down the Grand River was a huge highlight of this trip. We also visited the village of Elora and did a little wagering on the horses at the Grand River Raceway that is right across the street from the park. Check out the adventures in our YouTube video.
