Today, we feature Steve Smith, better known across American greens as one of the most seasoned and well-travelled competitors in the U.S. bowls community. Based out of Laguna Beach LBC, Riverside LBC, and Sun City LBC, Steve brings 25 years of experience, a haul of national titles, and a lifetime of stories to Team North America.
🏆 Career Highlights
Across his quarter-century on the greens, Steve has collected an impressive list of major American titles, including:
• 1× U.S. National Singles Champion
• 2× U.S. National Pairs Champion
• 1× U.S. Open Rinks Champion
• 1× U.S. Open Pairs Champion
His résumé places him among the most accomplished American bowlers of his era — a competitor who has succeeded across formats and surfaces.
🌍 International Experience
Steve’s international journey is as memorable as it is meaningful.
His first major international appearance came at the 2007 World Cup Indoor in Australia, representing Team USA.
He later qualified for a PBA event in Wales, earning the chance to step onto the iconic World Bowls Tour in Potters.

Steve credits Paul Foster as one of his biggest inspirations — particularly Foster’s ability to draw his way out of trouble with patience and precision. Steve even had the chance to face Foster and Alex Marshall in U.S. Open pairs play, holding them to a tight finish and walking away with a story few bowlers can claim.
