This was supposed to be a simple overnight trip along the North Saskatchewan River. Good weather, quiet spot, maybe even a chance to do some fishing.
Didn’t go that way.
The day started with me stuck at a gas station dealing with a gear selector issue just to get the truck into drive. Not ideal, but manageable. I got out to camp, got set up, and for a minute it felt like things might turn around.
Then an email came in.
A customer who had just picked up one of my campers was dealing with an issue, and he was about as far away from me as you can get without being on another continent. I tried to work through it, even went through the same process on my own setup to replicate what he was seeing—but I couldn’t get it to happen on my end.
At that point, it wasn’t something I could solve remotely.
So I packed everything up and headed back to the shop to get a reliable connection and actually help get it sorted.
Not the trip I planned—but it’s part of it.
When someone trusts me with something I built, that matters more than a quiet night by the fire so I made the right call.
