I had the honour of traveling to Lacombe, Alberta for the first time with Lorne Dach Laura Penner to attend Pride flag raising with Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse and Brooks Arcand-Paul ! Afterwards, we toured the Michener House and Museum where we learned that Roland Michener, at the age of 80, climbed to the peak of Alberta's Mount Michener. The house, with original wood, is absolutely gorgeous and a true testament to the rich history within its walls. We also visited the Flatiron Building and Museum where we learned more about Lacombe's rich history, including the flourishing film and theatre scene. Did you know that the film "The Magic of an Ordinary Day" was filmed in Lacombe? Lacombe Museums Before we left we stopped in at the Milly Oak Café & Catering for a delicious brunch! I highly recommend the Lemon Meringue Crapes! Lacombe is a beautiful community with stunning tree lined streets, rich history, and some wonderful people! Thank you to everyone, especially Lorne, who made this day not only possible, but very special.

Last year, my good friend and colleague Alex Jack created a workplace simulation of sensory overload in the workplace. I truly believe that this is one of the most valuable ways for people to fully understand the barriers faced by people with disabilities in the workplace.

A few days ago, Alex gave a breakdown of what he created and provided an indepth look into how sensory overload can affect someone in the workplace, while also showcasing how employers can be more supportive to employees with disabilities.

I am asking you to please take thirty minutes of your day and watch this video. Then, share it with your networks and help them understand one of the many barriers people can face in the workplace. I'd like to thank Alex for creating this incredibly important and invaluable material. And, finally, if you're considering having a Sensory Room at your next event, contact Alex or Riki, founders of Sensational Times: https://www.instagram.com/sensational.times/

Tonight was absolutely incredible! I had the honour to listen to, and meet, the incomparable .lewis the new leader of . I believe Avi is a leader for a generation and with him at the helm, not only can the Federal NDP get back to their roots, but have an incredible chance to win the next election. Avi truly cares about people with disabilities and believes that our community deserves to thrive and not be taken advantage of. Thank you, Avi, for giving me hope I haven't felt on a long time.

I also had the honour to meet the amazing Tanille Johnston who is also an incredibly lovely person!

It was an amazing night! 🧡🧡
