I’m always looking for ways to bring the outside in—it reminds me to live gently and gather intentionally. Do you do this too?

I am constantly thinking about how I can create solutions for my home that are natural, beautiful, and don’t require a trip to the store. Today I looked out the kitchen window at the hedge that was begging to be trimmed, and in the foreground was the soap dish by the sink. Let’s just say that goey mess on the bottom did not spark joy! As I looked back and forth from it to the hedge my creative being found the answer.

Underpinning my soap cake with a bit of greenery that would have made its way to the compost pile simply and stunningly brought instant satisfaction.

I’ll keep sharing these small wins and would love if you have an idea (and an image?) to give us all ideas I would love to know about them.

It’s blueberry season! If you’re looking for a few tips for the perfect Blueberry Muffins, I’m here for you!

1) If you suffer from muffin tops that give zero indication there’s a single blueberry in there, you may have missed that coating your berries with a tablespoon or two of your flour mixture before you fold them into the mix will cause them to be more evenly distributed in your batter. Dare I say a few will even stay on top?!

2) When you cream the butter and sugar together and add the eggs the mixture can curdle. To fix this add a tablespoon or so of the dry mix into the mixer.

3) If you hear someone say that muffins are just an excuse to eat cake for breakfast, feel free to stick one of these in their mouth 😂

No solar eclipse here for us today. It’s pouring rain so I’m having an inside work day. I’m going to move food up from the basement to the new butlers pantry I made in the mudroom.

Too bad it doesn’t come with a butler 🤭

A foot of snow up here in Whistler along with very little fresh ingredients in the fridge led me to make Faux Pho. I use boxed stock, aromatics (onion garlic ginger) and pantry spices (star anise). I also had cooked turkey wings left over from Christmas dinner in the freezer so I threw those in. I let that all simmer for an hour then strained out the solids and cooked the rice noodles in the broth. I had left over shrimp from the night before dinner of lemon garlic shrimp gnocchi. I also had parsley. I simply put it all together.

Soup is my superpower. Making dinner out of seemingly nothing is my other. I’m going to blog exactly how I did this.

The new blog is in the works and we are working so hard to perfect it (fingers crossed) by the end of January.

I really wanted pointsettias with a pink blush, so I bought these little $5 cuties and broke out my powdered blush from my makeup bag. I now have the perfect blush babies 💗

My mumma always did my Christmas baking as my gift. I absolutely LOVED it. I especially loved the mince pies! I haven’t had them since she passed away nearly 4 years ago. Today I really wanted my mumma, so I baked mince pies and ate two. Thank you mumma for all of those years of baking and love.

Food is love. Don’t ever doubt it!

The last of the Mother’s Day bouquets are done and delivered. Tomorrow morning I will make up some vase arrangements then that’s it for tulip season.
