🐴❤️ Amber Marshall is stepping into a milestone moment as Heartland Season 20 gets ready to begin! After nearly two decades as Amy Fleming, Amber returns for another chapter of CBC’s hit family drama, with Heartland Season 20 premiering Sunday, October 4. The new season marks an incredible 20 seasons and 20 years of Heartland, making this one of the biggest celebrations in the show’s history.

But the celebration is already starting. Today, October 2, Heartland is holding its Season 20 World Premiere Screening in High River, Alberta, the real town that has represented Hudson since the series began. The special event runs from 5–9 p.m. and turns part of downtown High River into a Heartland celebration ahead of Sunday’s television premiere.

For Amber Marshall, Season 20 is another remarkable milestone in a role that has grown alongside much of her own life. Her real experience with horses has always been a major part of what she brings to Amy Fleming. Earlier this year, Amber spoke in detail about working with horses on a television set, explaining how understanding their body language, trust and movement can translate directly into a more natural performance on camera. She also discussed how horses are selected for filming and how the production creates realistic training scenes without necessarily training the horse during the actual take.

Season 20 will also immediately give Amy something new to deal with. In the premiere episode, “Renewal,” Amy struggles with the arrival of another horse whisperer in Hudson, setting up a different kind of challenge for a character who has spent years building her reputation and connection with horses.

And Heartland’s connection to Alberta is still very active. High River has already posted another Heartland filming notice for October 6, just two days after the Season 20 premiere, showing that production activity around the town continues even as fans begin watching the new season.

Heartland returns Sunday, October 4 on CBC and CBC Gem with the Season 20 premiere, “Renewal.” Amber Marshall is back as Amy Fleming, and a new chapter is about to begin for the Heartland family.
In the 1st episode, another horse whisperer comes to Hudson, giving Amy a new challenge. Jack starts thinking about retirement, while Katie and River face problems in their friendship.

There’s even more coming this season. Amy will spend more time teaching Lyndy about horses, Nathan’s mother makes a surprise visit, Jack shares a special ride with Nate Sr., and Katie agrees to a blind date. Amy will also help Tammy with her racehorse, while Lou comes up with new plans for the Dude Ranch.

One thing that makes Heartland feel so real is that so much of it is filmed outdoors in Alberta. No fake skies or mountain backgrounds are needed. The cast and crew work through real wind, rain, snow, heat and sudden weather changes. 🏔️ Even many of the exciting horseback scenes are done with skilled riders, stunt teams and trained horses, which helps give the show its natural ranch feeling.

Alisha Newton is back for Heartland Season 20! 🐴❤️ This behind-the-scenes photo gives fans another look at Alisha during production of the milestone new season, where she returns as Georgie Fleming Morris, a character she has played since joining Heartland back in Season 6.

Season 20 has now finished filming, and there are signs that Georgie could have a more noticeable presence this season than she has in some recent years. Alisha was involved across multiple filming blocks during production, although the show has kept the details of Georgie’s Season 20 storyline largely under wraps.

UP Faith & Family, which carries recent seasons of Heartland in the U.S., currently has the series through Season 19.
