The Alberta Government has confirmed that water pumping in Gull Lake will get underway this coming April.

This comes as part of an effort to restore the lake's water levels, which fell to historic lows in 2024.

"A filtration system has been approved and will be installed on the current pumps," said MLA Jennifer Johnson. "It should be ready to go and pumping by April 1, 2026. This is meant to stabilize the lake but will likely not be enough to restore it or save it completely."
