Buy tomorrow’s edition of the Lethbridge Herald we’re getting a full feature in the entertainment section! Probably the best interview I’ve ever done, and my first focused on the music scene here.
For a city our size, I’ve always been impressed with the caliber of talent in our backyard. Last weekend’s show was proof of that and it took me back. From about 2008–2013, Lethbridge experienced a true golden era for live entertainment. The architect & driving force behind it was DJ Booda, who brought some of the biggest names in music to our city. He was an incredible ambassador for arts and culture and proudly represented Lethbridge on the world stage.
As an artist, DJ Booda gave me once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, opening for Snoop Dogg, Lady Gaga, Redman & Method Man… showing 3/6 Mafia where the Arby’s was, rocking all their chains up the elevator, eating a sub with Maestro Fresh Wes, helping D12 rent a minivan, and having Xzibit laugh right in my face. These moments happened… in Lethbridge, Alberta!
I’m humbled to have been part of that movement, and I believe this community is ready. With hard work and smart planning, those good ol’ days don’t have to stay in the past a new golden era could be on the horizon for the next generation of Lethbridge artists.
