Gown Wars brings fashions most decadent garment into a visual competition for the senses, pitting design and sewing enthusiasts against one another to a runway finale. Red carpet stunners, period theatre costumes, stunning bridal wear, drag glam and glitter…they’re all conceived and created under the watchful eyes of a team of fashion experts and a guest judge with expertise in the design of the day! The Big Catch- Teams will have only10 HOURS to create their master pieces!

Gown Wars is the brainchild of April Jackson, creator and President of Jackson Sewing Academy Alterations Specialist Course. Sponsored by the sewing academy, Gown Wars was created by April for the purpose of building awareness and elevating the sewing trades in the eyes of the public. This event is a sewing competition between three teams consisting of three members and will be held at a location that will allow public observation. Competing teams will have ten hours to complete a full ‘gown’, to certain specifications. Finished gowns will be judged by a panel of experts and the winning team will be awarded a cash prize.

The Gown Wars competition will be documented by video and developed into a pilot show. It is April’s goal to have this competition picked up by a television station and become the newest TV Competition Series.
