Join us for a weekend of music and connection!

On May 10th at Venturing Hills Farm (4:30 PM) and May 11th at La Fab sur Mill (11:00 AM), Collines-en-musique presents Sunjata’s Time. This program celebrates something deeply meaningful to us: the relationship between musicians and their supporters.

Curated by acclaimed cellist Julia MacLaine, this powerful concert highlights the ties between composers, performers, and patrons through four compelling works. Julia will be joined by three incredible musicians from the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal: Richard Zheng (violin), Scott Chancey (viola), and Victor Fournelle-Blain (violin/viola).

The program features:

Beethoven’s exuberant Razumovsky Quartet, a cornerstone of the string quartet repertoire

Works by Rhiannon Giddens, Bryce Dessner, and Fodé Diabaté, all written for the celebrated Kronos Quartet

Two Concerts:

Saturday, May 10 | 4:30 PM
Full-length concert at Venturing Hills Farm
Tickets: $35 (Students/Youth: $20)

Sunday, May 11 | 11:00 AM

Words can’t express our gratitude to the incredible family we’ve built at Festival Collines-en-musique.

A huge thank you to the amazing artists who filled our spaces with breathtaking music and to our wonderful audience members who came out to share in this unforgettable weekend. Your passion, energy, and support make this festival what it is—a celebration of music, community, and connection.

A special shoutout to La Fab sur Mill for being our home for three years running! We couldn’t do it without this incredible space and the people who bring it to life.

Meet Uliana! An award-winning violinist and passionate educator, Uliana shines as a soloist with top orchestras like the Orchestre symphonique de Laval and the Grands Ballets Canadiens. She’s a founding member of Quatuor Voxpopuli, Trio de l'Île, and Duo Drugova-Broekaert, bringing chamber music to life across Quebec and beyond.

When she’s not on stage, Uliana is inspiring the next generation as a violin professor at the Université de Montréal and École Vincent d'Indy. Her dedication to music and education is truly remarkable!

Meet Juan Gabriel Olivares Ever humble, he barely allowed us to post on his behalf. For that very reason, you may not know that Juan frequently steals away to perform with orchestras across North America. Catch him playing Wozzeck at the Canadian Opera Company or Die Walküre with Edmonton Opera this spring. His recording with Against the Grain was Juno-nominated, and in his (limited) spare time, he has taken up sound engineering.

He’s an integral part of the leadership team at Collines-en-musique, a champion of new music, and a champion of others. He’s like a woodwind Batman—moving between genres, projects, and ensembles with ease.

Next weekend, you can count on Juan to greet you with open arms, take your ticket, and pour you a drink—as any good clarinet hero would.

Many of you already know Carson Becke for his incredible piano skills, his community-minded approach to music-making, and his dedicated leadership. You probably also know that he has toured the world, played with top musicians, and co-founded a piano duo (because apparently, one piano just isn’t enough). He composes, transcribes, and arranges—you name it, Carson can probably do it!

What you may not know is that when Carson isn’t rehearsing for an upcoming concert, he can often be found cross-country skiing through Gatineau Park.

If you happen to spot him with an impressive amount of ice on his beard between now and our Festival opening night, stop him (if you can!) and snap a picture. Show us the photo at the Festival, and we’ll give you a drink on the house!

Between now and our Festival opening on February 7, we'll be sharing information about our amazing artists and partners.

First up: Julia MacLaine!!

Julia MacLaine: a world-class cellist, a proud member of the Wakefield community, and a key figure on the leadership team of Collines-en-musique.

Since 2014, Julia has served as the Assistant Principal Cello of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, performing worldwide as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral artist. Her repertoire spans classical, contemporary, and world music, including her own arrangements and compositions.

If you've attended concerts in recent years, you may have had the pleasure of hearing Julia perform, including premiering an original composition last fall.

What you might not know about Julia is that she’s a force to be reckoned with. When she’s not gracing Canada’s top stages, she’s out training for winter biathlons in Gatineau Park.

Don’t miss the chance to see this brilliant, experimental, and undeniably cool musician on Sunday, February 9, 4:00 at La Fab sur Mill

We host a concert every month, but we certainly don't host a world premiere every month! We are extremely excited for our concert this Saturday afternoon featuring Ottawa's SHHH!! Ensemble (Zac Pulak and Edana Higham, percussion and piano) performing their recently commissioned 'An Auditory Survey of the Last Days of the Holocene' by Frank Horvat. They released this work as an album in 2023, but this is the first time it will be performed live. Check out the wild percussion setup in our space!😮

Simply put, 'An Auditory Survey' is about humanity's interactions with planet Earth. Featuring over 150 recorded sounds of the man-made and natural world combined with live percussion and piano, the hour-long piece charts our relationship with the planet, and offers a hopeful vision of the future. This will be a concert about the pivotal moment in time we are living in right now, but also about our broader existence as a species. If that sounds like an intense afternoon to you, don't worry - we'll be serving beer and wine from some of the best producers in the Outaouais at our bar (Vignoble des Collines and Brauwerk Hoffman), plus hot chocolate and coffee (Bluebarn)!

Come see the SHHH!! Ensemble: Zac Pulak (percussion) and Edana Higham (piano) in this riveting world premiere.

Now more relevant than ever, An Auditory Survey of the Last Days of the Holocene explores humanity's potential shift from reckless destruction to deliberate, thoughtful choices that could foster a healthy and sustainable future.
