Every week people ask us what’s going on in Markham. This is how we find out.

We’re building next week’s newsletter and we want the stuff that doesn’t show up in a Google search. The night market you’re running. The patio squeezing out one last summer weekend. The shop opening on Main Street Unionville. The fundraiser, the pop-up, the class, the show, the thing your neighbour told you about.

Business owner, organizer, or just someone who heard about something good. Doesn’t matter. Send it.

Events. Food. Shopping. Anything worth leaving the house for.

DM us by Sunday and we’ll put it in front of 2,500+ Markham residents on Monday morning. Free, always has been.

Location: Old Unionville Library Community Centre, 15 Library Lane, Unionville, L3R 5T7
Limited washrooms on site (2 at the beginning of the route and 1 at the halfway mark)

The annual Asian Roots Collective (ARC) World Festival is coming back to Markham on September 12! 🎉

Founded in Markham by Marvel star Simu Liu, ARC World is bringing together an incredible celebration of Asian culture featuring live music, amazing food, inspiring speakers—and a celebrity basketball game with Simu Liu and former NBA star Jeremy Lin. 🏀✨

After recent editions in downtown Toronto, bringing the festival back to Markham is a homecoming—celebrating the community where it all began and creating a space for Asian Canadians to connect, celebrate their culture and embrace their identity.

🚨 New (or new-ish) in Markham!

Here are some of the latest openings, upcoming spots, and local updates around the city:

• Nisa’s | Cakes | desserts | Markham – Now open on Main Street Unionville, serving cakes, cookies, and even the viral stuffed bagels.
• Xggsup Brew House – A new all-day café with everything from eggs benedict and waffles to burgers, pasta, butter chicken, and more.
• Trio Pastry Café – Also on Main Street Unionville, offering fresh pastries, desserts, and handcrafted coffee.
• The Big Catch Fish & Chips – Markham’s newest destination for fish & chips has officially opened.
• Cuddle – Part café, part community hub, serving classic Hong Kong comfort food.
• Maison Qing 酥饼夫人 – Freshly baked pastries and sweet treats are now available at this new bakery.
• Glass Kitchen – The popular spot just outside Markham is temporarily closed as it prepares to move into a new space.
• Bakebe Canada – Celebrating its official grand opening in Markville Mall on June 21, with a free Express Experience for the first 15 guests.
