One Sweet Denali HD 1-Ton! 🚨🛻

This Denali HD 1-Ton is easily one of the nicest trucks I’ve had the chance to run. But what really sets it apart is everything that’s been added to make it a serious workhorse for Emcon Services.

Upfitted with some pretty cool gear, including Whelen lighting, Icom radios, a CM Truck Deck, GridIron bumper, 12,000-pound WARN winch, 3,000-watt inverter/charger, and plenty more.

It’s a truck that looks good sitting still, but it’s built to work. Whether we’re out chasing shots, collecting data, working around industrial sites, or supporting our clients, this truck has the technology and capability to get the job done.

A proper mix of comfort, capability, technology and a little bit of attitude. 😎

Big Power Films will be attending this years Hay Days. Last time we were there it was a blast to see all the gear first hand.

✈️ Looking Right Down the Approach to Runway 13!

There’s something pretty cool about seeing an airport from this perspective. Looking straight down the approach for Runway 13, you get a whole different appreciation for the layout, the surrounding terrain, and the precision that goes into aviation.

⛏️ BIG MINE. BIG SCALE. BIG IMPACT.

Some mine sites are hard to appreciate until you see them from above. The Gibraltar Mine, near McLeese Lake, BC, is one of those places where the sheer scale is incredible.

Gibraltar is the second-largest open-pit copper mine in Canada, producing copper and molybdenum. The operation has a processing capacity of approximately 85,000 tonnes of ore per day. That is an unbelievable amount of material moving through one operation.

The mine has been operating since 1972, with Taseko Mines acquiring it in 1999 and bringing it back into production in 2004. Since then, more than $800 million has been invested to modernize and expand the operation.

From a drone, you really get a different perspective on the scale of the pits, haul roads, processing facilities and massive equipment working together.

This is the kind of industrial landscape that reminds you just how much engineering, planning, technology and people go into producing the minerals that keep modern life moving.

📡 The Backbone Behind the Signal

Ever wonder how communications make it from one mountain top to another? A big part of the answer is microwave link technology.

High above the ground, these antennas send highly focused radio signals from tower to tower, creating a network that can move huge amounts of voice, data and information across long distances. Mountain top to mountain top, these links form a critical part of the communications infrastructure we rely on every day.

From the ground, you might just see a tower. From above, you get a whole different perspective on the technology connecting our communities. 📡🏔️

Sometimes you have to swing the camera around and look out at the horizon. 🌄🚁

A lot of what we capture at Big Power Films has our cameras pointed straight down. Volumetrics, stockpiles, mapping and detailed site data all require a good look at the ground.

But every once in a while, it’s worth looking up and taking in the bigger picture. 👊

This shot was taken near Alexandria, just south of Quesnel, BC. A great reminder that there’s a whole lot more to aerial photography than what’s directly below the drone.

📡 233 GB. 42 FLIGHTS. 3 DAYS. 🚁💾

The volume of data we ingest from drone operations at Big Power Films is HUGE.

Last week alone, we completed 42 individual flights in just 3 days, generating approximately 233 GB of data for our clients.

Every mission is carefully planned and setup is critical. Flight paths, ground control, airspace coordination, camera settings, overlap, lighting and site conditions all play a role in making sure we capture the right data, the first time.

Once the drone is back on the ground, the work doesn't stop. That massive amount of imagery and information gets processed into valuable data that can help our clients make better decisions, plan projects and understand their sites.

It might look like we're just flying a drone... but behind every flight is a whole lot of planning, technology and data management. 📊🛰️

⛏️ BIG MACHINES. BIG JOBS. BIG IMPORTANCE. 🚜

There’s something pretty impressive about seeing a mine in action. Big trucks, big dozers, and some serious horsepower, all working together to move the earth and extract the minerals that help keep our world turning.

From the technology in our phones and vehicles to infrastructure, energy, construction, and countless products we rely on every day, mining plays a critical role in modern life.

It takes skilled people, precision, planning, and some seriously capable equipment to get it done. And from the air, you really get a perspective on just how massive the operation is. 📸🚁

This is the scale of mining. This is the work behind the materials that keep Canada and the world moving.

🌽 Almost ready to go! 🌽

The corn fields are looking incredible as they get closer and closer to harvest. There’s something pretty special about seeing these fields come together after months of growth, especially with the mountains in the background. 📸

**ROC-A: Safety Starts With Communication ✈️🚁**

When you’re operating a drone in shared airspace, knowing how to fly is only part of the job.

Having your **ROC-A (Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification)** means you’re trained and authorized to communicate on aviation frequencies. That communication is a critical part of operating safely around local aircraft, especially helicopters working in the area.

At Big Power Films, safety comes first. Being able to monitor and communicate with aircraft helps us understand what’s happening around our operation and gives pilots another set of eyes and ears in the airspace.

**Fly smart. Communicate. Know your airspace.** 👊
