No matter where we're at on our business journeys, the learning never ends.

Sometimes it seems like the challenges might never end, too.

This stuff can feel hard.

But through it all, we're not just building businesses (from scratch, btw) ...

we're building indispensable skills.

Skills to succeed.

Weathering even a single storm as an entrepreneur should be counted as a win.

Keep on learning.

Keep on building.

Keep on expanding your perceptions of what you're capable of.

Then remember to count every lesson as part of your long term success.

Sometimes you might wonder if

all the good you're trying to do,
all the hard work
all the time you're putting in

are really having the impact you hoped for.

They are.

Keep doing that work you're passionate about. It's meaningful... possibly more than you realize.

(P.S. This can go for your marketing, too. Not all touch points are easily measurable but they all matter.)

If you're reading this, you've had an impact on me. So I'd like to pay this gratitude forward - thank you for connecting here.

Thank you of .tribes and group leader for your touching appreciation, and congratulations on your new Milton networking chapter! I loved it, and look forward to more meetups.

In a digital marketer discussion group recently, I read a post from someone concerned about a new client's complaint:

"The onboarding process is too complicated."

The comments under the post were filled with well-meaning recommendations for Etsy / Pinterest onboarding kit download packages.

I understand why the questionnaire kits are popular - they're beautiful and look well-organized. They're also often 10+ pages.

Some clients prefer an asynchronous onboarding, with time to think and articulate their answers. But for others, a multi-step process or 10-page kit they have to complete solo creates decision fatigue, overwhelm and worse yet, a disconnect before the work even starts.

In 17 years of business, I've learned that onboarding is an opportunity. It doesn't just serve to shape the strategy, it builds trust and momentum. For that to happen, it has to feel comfortable.

My own onboarding process is dead simple.

I just meet with them.

It's nothing revolutionary. It's just a 1:1 where I'm combining typical onboarding steps (information gathering, kickoff, setting expectations, strategy, planning, review) into a more personal experience. The client is actively engaged in the process, listened to and given space to feel heard.

For many clients, a long document just can't build connection, confidence or trust like that.

But this isn't really about meetings vs. kits. It's about optimizing the experience.

Part of a marketer's job is to be mindful of UX. And part of that is finding ways to reduce friction in the customer journey. A client deserves the same level of intentionality we apply when we focus on their audience.

They deserve to feel connected to the process.

It’s easy to forget how much expertise you have, especially if you’ve been in your field for several, or many years.

The knowledge you’ve acquired might feel like common sense to you, as though it’s a given.

But keep in mind that knowledge is not a given to your audience, and that’s what makes what you have to say so valuable to them.

At various networking events lately, I've had people say to me some variation of: "Ooooh, digital marketing? That must be challenging these days, with so many businesses turning to AI".

But I don't see that as a challenge at all. AI is a tool, helpful for providing an abundance of options and ideas. But the sheer volume of the output can be overwhelming, leaving businesses struggling with what to focus on. Every business needs a marketing strategy, and every strategy needs clarity. If anything, my work has just begun.

It's that old feeling... "I never know what to post!"

And it keeps on coming back again. It makes you cringe at the thought of what you are going to come up with for tomorrow.

Annnnd the next day.

Especially when "everyone else" (who is that, exactly?) seems to be rocking it.

It's not just about the surface issue of being unsure what to say.

It goes deeper.

Not being sure about your marketing can play on you.

It gets you telling yourself you're not sure what your audience wants, even though I think you probably are.

You've been sharing your genius for years in person.

But the online part feels... clunky.
Inauthentic.
And it definitely seems like a chore.

You've been working hard at it, but something still just doesn't feel right
..and it's not bringing the results you want.

When you're not connecting the way you want, it leaves you wondering if your expertise is actually coming across.

I see this a lot in my 1:1 marketing strategy sessions, and that's how I know.

Sometimes I feel like being a "translator" is a big part of my work - helping people to construe that ease they feel when they connect with their clients in person, into their online messaging.

It's my little superpower, and I'm just a message away when it's time to stop struggling alone.

You already have all the pieces.

Now it's just about putting them together, artfully with intention - in a way that's 100% yours.

I went over to yesterday for "the big cheque" presentation of the donation total from our International Women's Day brunch event Sunday.

Together, we raised $2676.89 for Halton Women's Place!

This is the largest amount we have ever collected from an event (so far)!

I can't believe how fast this event came together. It started out being planned as a smaller gathering, and look what happened!

What a story, this is what women can accomplish when we support each other!

100% of participation fees collected from event sponsors, vendors, giveaway contributors and goodie bag contributors were donated to Halton Women's Place.

We also collected monetary and item donations from attendees at the event!

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making donation happen!
