BLAST FROM THE PAST – Yesteryear Summer Events
Mission Folk Music Festival, 1991

The 4th Annual Mission Folk Music Festival was held at Fraser River Heritage Park from July 26 to the 28th. The “headliner” for the 91 Festival was the Texas Tornados – shown performing in the posted image at the event finale. The ethnic or “roots” lineup included African, Paraguayan, Chinese, gospel and Russian music.

In addition to an eclectic array of music, dance, food, drafts, workshops and activities, camping on the site was available for the first time. A record 3,500 people attended the weekend making it “the most successful Mission Folk Music Festival to date” (Abbotsford Times, July 31, 1991).
