Update: Movie Under the Stars

MISSION COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANT CYCLE OPEN // Applications for the Mission Community Foundation 2025 Grant Cycle 2 will be accepted from September 25 to October 30, 2025. Funding will be awarded to charitable and non-profit organizations serving the City of Mission area, including the Mission Public School District catchment area, in alignment with the Foundation’s mission to support local initiatives that strengthen and enrich the Mission community.

The Foundation conducts two grant cycles annually, providing funding to a range of projects and programs that address community needs and priorities. CULTURE DAYS: MODERN HAIKU REMIX: WORD ART FOR THE HERE & NOW, 6:30-8:30pm, Boswyk Seniors Activity Centre, 7682 Grand St. Register by October 3. www.mission.ca/register

Modern Haiku Remix is a creative and reflective workshop taught by Jane Franklin that invites participants to play with the art of haiku in fresh, contemporary ways. Traditionally known as a simple three-line poem capturing moments in nature, this workshop encourages participants to reimagine haiku as capturing of everyday moments, feelings or memories. Through guided writing prompts, playful word exercises, and hands-on word art creation, participants will craft their own modern haikus and transform them into visual pieces using mixed media techniques. The session is designed to be light, and accessible for all levels of writing and art experience.
