I’ve experienced more racism than I could’ve ever prepared for.
As a business affairs consultant and producer working with Black creatives, creatives of colour, and business professionals — I know what it feels like to build something in spaces that weren’t designed for us.
In my early days, people only wanted to work with me if I had a white partner beside me. Later, they’d walk right past me — the owner — and assume my white secretary ran the business. Those moments hurt. They planted seeds of doubt, distrust, and defensiveness.
But here’s what I’ve learned: when you lead with pain, you push away purpose.
When your energy is rooted in trauma, the clients and collaborators who see you can’t find you.
Now, I move differently.
I give myself grace. I realign daily. I lead with intention, not reaction — with purpose, not pain.
Because healing is a business strategy. 🖤
