PRAISE THE LORD! To God be the Glory! Mark 16:17–18 says, "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
Faith in Christ is never meant to be static; it is powerful, alive, and active. In this passage, Jesus declares the supernatural authority entrusted to every believer. These are not mere promises of strange wonders but affirmations of what it means to live in the full reality of His resurrection power. When Jesus says, "These signs will accompany those who believe," He emphasizes that the miraculous is meant to be a normal part of the Christian life, not an exception to it.
Driving out demons represents freedom; believers carry the light that overcomes darkness. Speaking in new tongues reflects deeper communion with God and unity among His people. The imagery of handling snakes and surviving poison is not about recklessness but divine protection amid life's dangers. It reminds us that nothing can hinder those who are walking in God's purpose. Finally, the laying on of hands for healing reveals God's heart of compassion working through His people, extending Christ's love to the broken and suffering.
This promise challenges us to believe boldly. It's not a call to perform feats for attention but to manifest God's kingdom wherever we go. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead empowers believers today. As we trust in His name and act in His authority, signs will follow, not because of our strength, but because His presence is with us, confirming His Word through us.
