Fifty years ago this summer, April Wine released their fourth album and blasted their way onto the album charts in a way no Canadian band had ever done. With catchy hooks, rockin' riffs, and gentle rock ballads, there was something for everyone. And if you went to the local arena to see the shows, you even got a live onstage cannon loaded with projectiles and real gunpowder. And if you're lucky, you weren't set on fire. But you would "cum hear the band" for tunes from April Wine's "Stand Back". Led by a man who turned his personal tragedy into beautiful melodies, and p***y, rebellious anthems. The story of April Wine's climb to fame, and the album that set a new standard for Canadian bands, the first to go Double Platinum in their home country. And crazy tales from the early days of a growing national music biz. It's April Wine's "Stand Back". And tomorrow night, we'll hear it in its entirety on The Vinyl Vault with JC Douglas, who just found some of his autographed April Wine LP's!! Our Moncton Wildcats are hitting the big Island this weekend, back to back against the Cape Breton Eagles. Their home opener is Oct 4 vs Saint John. Brock will be back Wednesday and he'll have weekend prize packs to give away. He'll also have details about the raising of the QMJHL championship banner. That is going to look so sweet up on the Avenir Centre rafters!
