One more Canadian Creator Open and Muskoka post. (Thatâs a lie. I have a few more bomb photos that deserve their time to shine online but this one will be reflective.) â€ïž
Signing up for the open, I knew I was under qualified as a golfer. But I trusted myself as a creator that I could meet at least 50% of the requirements.
In this industry itâs hard not to compare yourself to others. Their growth. Their opportunities. Their engagement. How easily ideas seem to flow through them. Even when Iâm hyping from the sidelines, itâs hard not to think âhold up, why am I not that?!â
So when thereâs a chance to be proud of myself, I have to take it and hold on tight. I knew going in I wasnât a seasoned pro golfer. I VERY rarely stay focused for all 18 holes, let alone keep my score. My only goal was to finish all 18. Which I didâŠnot well by golferâs standardsâŠbut I did. đââïž
4 weeks ago I so badly wanted to chicken out of the tournament, but Cole and Courtney talked me into sticking, and Iâm so thankful they did. I did something that scared me, met new friends, got a few nights away with my bestie, and came home already planning for the next open (if theyâll have me).
Turning 40 in two months (November 1st, put it in your calendar), I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and golfing solo was one of those things.
Auntie request: Take this as your sign to do the things that scare you. Itâs how we grow, and itâs what makes the stress of life worth it. And who knows, maybe youâll come dead last at a golf tournament. I meanâŠthere could be worse thingsâŠâ€ïžđïžââïžâ€ïž
