Everybody tells you Times Square is a tourist trap. It is. I stood in it for an hour anyway.
There is nowhere else where forty thousand people move around you and nobody cares that you are standing still. The signs are bright enough that the pavement has colour in it. People are crying, arguing, selling things, getting engaged, all in the same frame.
I did not expect to like it. I liked it.
Save this for your first night in New York.
