Yesterday marked 25 years since September 11, 2001.

I wasn’t in New York.
I wasn’t in America.
I didn’t know anyone in those buildings.

But I remember watching it live on television.

I remember seeing the smoke.
I remember the confusion.
I remember watching something so unimaginable happening in real time and struggling to understand what I was seeing.

And then the second plane hit.

Suddenly, it was clear that this wasn’t an accident.

I think that is one of those moments when the world collectively stopped.

Twenty-five years later, what stays with me most isn’t only the horror of that day. It is thinking about the ordinary lives behind the numbers.

People who woke up and went to work.
People who boarded a plane.
Parents who kissed their children goodbye.
Someone who said, “See you tonight.”
Someone who left a coffee unfinished.
Someone whose ordinary Tuesday morning became their last.

2,977 lives were lost.

And behind every one of those lives were families and friends whose world would never be quite the same again.

I wasn’t there.

But like millions of people around the world who watched from thousands of miles away, I remember.

25 years later, we still remember. 🕊️

September 11, 2001. Never forgotten. ❤️

Montreal weather needs to be studied. 😭😂

2:30pm: Thunder. Lightning. Rain like the whole city offended somebody. ⛈️😭

3:00pm: ☀️
Sun shining peacefully like nothing happened.

Excuse me???

No apology?
No explanation?
Just sunshine??? 😭😂

As a Nigerian, I grew up knowing what season I was participating in.

Montreal said:

“Madam, we don’t do that here.” 😂

You leave the house with sunglasses.
Five minutes later you need an umbrella.
Another 20 minutes and you’re cold.

By evening, you’re wondering why you didn’t bring a jacket.

One outing. Four personalities. 😭

At this point, checking the Montreal weather forecast isn’t enough.

Living in Montreal means Google Maps can tell you a place is 12 minutes away…

and you just laugh. 😂

12 minutes HOW?

By helicopter??? 😭

Because between the orange cones, closed streets, detours, one-way streets that suddenly became no-way streets and a construction worker casually redirecting traffic…

I have now been driving for 37 minutes and I can still see my house. 😭😭😂

And Montreal construction has no season.

Spring: 🚧
Summer: 🚧
Fall: 🚧
Winter: 🚧❄️

At this point, I’m convinced the orange cone is Quebec’s provincial flower.

You leave home going to Costco and somehow end up in Laval.

Montreal people… what road are you currently avoiding with your whole heart?

“You are enough.” ❤️

Such simple words, but somehow they hit differently today.

Dolly Parton gave the world so much more than music. She gave us humour, kindness, generosity, confidence and a reminder that you could be completely yourself and still make an extraordinary impact.

From Jolene to 9 to 5 and I Will Always Love You, her music crossed generations. But I think her warmth and the way she made people feel will be just as much a part of her legacy.

80 years. What a life. What a legacy.

Rest peacefully, Dolly. 🕊️❤️

And perhaps this is the reminder someone needs tonight:

You are enough. You got this. ❤️

Nobody prepares you for the stage of parenting where your children start asking YOU for advice…

…and halfway through giving the advice, you realize:

I actually have no idea what I’m doing either. 😭

I’m just older.

That’s it.

That’s the qualification.

Meanwhile, I’m standing there sounding confident like:

“Listen, what you need to understand about life is…”

Ma’am.

You Googled something basic 20 minutes ago. 😂

Parenting is basically trying to raise responsible human beings while quietly hoping nobody discovers you’re also figuring life out as you go.

Parents, please tell me I’m not alone. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Nobody warned me that starting a side hustle to escape my 9–5 would mean…

working my 9–5…

then coming home to start my 5–9.

At this point, I haven’t escaped employment.

I’ve simply employed myself too.

Please, when does the “financial freedom” part start?🙄

Montreal… we need to talk. 😭

It is AUGUST.

Why did I step outside this morning and it was 18°C???

18 degrees??? In AUGUST???

I’m not emotionally prepared to start looking for a jacket.
I haven’t even finished complaining about the heat yet. 😭

At this point Montreal weather just wakes up and chooses a season.

Summer at 2pm.
Fall at 6pm.
Winter loading…

Montreal people, are we putting the jackets back on or are we refusing on principle?

Maybe you don’t need to have everything figured out this week.

Maybe you just need to take the next right step.

Send the email.
Make the call.
Start the thing.
Rest if you need to.
Try again if last week didn’t go as planned.

A new week doesn’t require a new you.

Just don’t give up on the person you’re becoming. 🤍

Happy Sunday.

Saturday mornings hit different when you’re an adult.

You wake up excited that you don’t have to work…

then remember the laundry, groceries, cleaning, cooking and 47 other things you’ve been postponing all week. 😩

So basically… I’ve just changed employers for the weekend.

Good morning to everyone reporting for their unpaid Saturday shift. ☕️
