Mave Mai – A Welcome Song, A Tribute Filled with Love
On the island of Nukutepipi, in French Polynesia, a magical moment took place during a traditional ceremony to welcome the island’s guests.
Under the rosy and orange hues of the sunset, as people gathered, Cerise and Sabrina, two incredible women from the Marquesas Islands, sang the “Mave Mai”, a powerful ancestral song, with strength and grace. This moment deeply moved all of us, as this welcoming song was much more than just a performance; it was a transmission of spirit, a call to presence.
As part of our latest collective music session, we invited them to come to the studio to record their version of Mave Mai, capturing not only the sound but also the energy of this sacred welcome.
The song is finally ready to be shared, but something has changed since then: Sabrina fell ill and, with devastating speed, left us. Always smiling, Sabrina was radiant and carried a contagious positive energy.
Today, we share this version of Mave Mai in her honor — not only as a welcoming song but as a gift, a greeting song for her voice to continue resonating in the hearts of all her loved ones.
