Just for fun, we like to send little personalized holiday gifts to our customers who released a project we did with them this year.
Last year, the post office strike had many arriving late, so this year we're taking no chances. We sent a first batch off today!

Here's a little peak under the hood of Studio B.

Not the most flashy set of gear, and usually doesn't end up in pictures but this is the computer side of how we run our sessions.
This is a super important part of how we are able to manage these ridiculously large sessions like jazz big bands!

To talk gear a little, for interfaces we've got the new Avid MTRX Studio, which controls our Atmos system, Avid HD I/O, and eventually we use Avid 192.
All of this and a crazy amount of cabling hooks up to our little Mac Studio, and voila! You have great sounding recordings!

One thing we have a ton of fun with in our Studio B setup is our wide variety of preamps.
This gives us a ridiculous amount of flexibilty when it comes to mixing and matching microphones to the specific instrument or style we are recording.

For example, if we're recording a string quartet and absolute transparency is the goal, we will likely use our RME preamps paired with our DPA or Scheops mics.

Or if we are recording crazy rock drums, and the goal is to make them sound huge, we will likely lay into our APIs.

On rare occasions, we have sessions that would record both of the above scenarios at the same time, and we can have the most beneficial and best sounding for both tasks at the same time!

We very much enjoy the flexibility this kind of setup allows for us, and the groups working with us love the result!

We printed some t-shirts that we've been giving away to artists passing though our studios over the past few weeks as a small thank you for working with us!

I'll get us an iron for cleaner t-shirt pictures in the future!
