Yesterday, I had the immense pleasure of visiting my old elementary school, Dunrae Gardens, where I attended kindergarten. Full circle moments like this never get old. I read Movers, Shakers, History Makers to two classes and was met with the best mix of adorable and hilarious comments and questions. “I love the rhymes.” “This is my favourite book.” “Are you married to anyone in the book?” And my personal favourite, “You’re really old.” 😂
Most importantly, the students were genuinely excited to learn about Black Canadian trailblazers. Curious minds, lots of energy, and no shortage of laughter. I had such a lovely time and left with a full heart. ❤️📚✨

Up before sunrise and feeling inspired (and sleepy. Lol!) This morning I was a guest on the Global Morning Show to discuss the 30th anniversary of Black History Month in Canada, Overture with the Arts’ Black History Month Luncheon, my Big Dreamers book series, and more. Honoured to be part of these important conversations.

Currently we are running our annual Black History Month at Big Dreamers where you can get 30% off sitewide! Let’s celebrate Black History - past, present and future 💡

Yesterday, I had the joy and privilege of being a guest on the Ladies First podcast, celebrating the dedication and hard work of some Queens in Montreal’s community, hosted by Real Island Vibes Radio. Fatima Wilson, Melika Forde Lewis, and I had a beautiful conversation with David Foster, where we talked about our journeys and careers in the arts. Tune in on January 28 and visit their YouTube channel to hear the full interview. Thank you for the space and the love. ❤️🎙️✨
