🧡 JOURNÉE NATIONALE DE LA VÉRITÉ ET DE LA RÉCONCILIATION

Retour en musique afin de souligner la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation. Le Concours vous présente cet extrait de l'oeuvre canadienne imposée, Mzizaakok Miiniwaa Mzizaakoonsak ("Taons et mouches à chevreuil"), de la compositrice canadienne Barbara Assiginaak. Il est interprété par le grand lauréat du Concours 2024, le pianiste canadien Jaeden Izik-Dzurko.

🎵 Barbara Assiginaak est une compositrice et musicienne anishinaabe (d'origine odawa, ojibwée et potawatomi; Mnidoo Mnissing, Giniw Dodem), qui partage son temps entre la composition, la scène et l'enseignement. Habituée des cérémonies traditionnelles aux côtés de personnes aînées, elle participe également aux activités écologiques liées au territoire ainsi qu'à la transmission des savoirs anishinaabeg.

🥇 Jaeden Izik-Dzurko a remporté le Prix André-Bachand pour la meilleure interprétation de l'oeuvre canadienne imposée.

🧡 NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION

A look back in music to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The Concours presents this excerpt from the imposed Canadian work, Mzizaakok Miiniwaa Mzizaakoonsak ("Horseflies and Deer Flies"), by Canadian composer Barbara Assiginaak. It is performed by the Concours 2024 Grand Laureate, Canadian pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko.

🎵 Barbara Assiginaak is an Anishinaabe composer and musician (of Odawa, Ojibwe, and Potawatomi descent; Mnidoo Mnissing, Giniw Dodem) who balances her time composing with performing and teaching music. She spends time with elders in traditional ceremonies, engaging in land-based environmental activities and teaching work rooted in traditional Anishinaabe teachings.

🥇 Jaeden Izik-Dzurko won the André-Bachand Award for the best performance of an imposed Canadian work.

La pianiste Janina Fialkowska à Montréal. 🎹

Après une carrière exceptionnelle qui l’a menée aux quatre coins du monde, la grande pianiste canadienne effectue une tournée d’adieux qui la mènera à Montréal le 2 octobre prochain à la Maison symphonique. Elle interprétera le majestueux Concerto pour piano no 4 de Beethoven avec l’Orchestre classique de Montréal dirigé par Andrei Feher.

Le Concours est honoré que Janina Fialkowska revienne à Montréal en tant que membre du jury international lors du Concours 2027, qui aura lieu du 24 avril au 5 mai.

After an exceptional career that has taken her around the world, the renowned Canadian pianist is currently on a farewell tour that will bring her to Montréal on October 2 at the Maison symphonique. She will perform Beethoven’s majestic Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Orchestre classique de Montréal and conductor Andrei Feher.

The Concours is honoured that Janina Fialkowska will return to Montreal to serve on the International Jury of the Concours 2027, which will take place from April 24 to May 5.

« Pour son ultime communion avec le public de sa terre natale, Janina Fialkowska jouera une partition qu’elle porte en elle depuis son adolescence : le Concerto pour piano nº 4 de Beethoven. « Je l’ai appris lorsque j’avais 15 ans et je l’ai joué plus d’une trentaine de fois sur scène. »

Le Concours musical international de Montréal est fier de son partenariat avec Steinway & Sons. 🎹

Le grand lauréat du Concours 2027 remportera le Prix Steinway Recording, lui donnant ainsi l’occasion d’enregistrer un album en studio sur étiquette Steinway & Sons, d’une valeur de 55 000 $ CAN. Les lauréats pourraient également être invités à participer au Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network, ce qui leur donnera l'opportunité de prendre part à une série de concerts dans des salles prestigieuses à travers le monde.

The Grand Laureate of the Concours 2027 will win the Steinway Recording Prize, the opportunity to record a studio album for the Steinway & Sons label, valued at $55,000 CAD. The 2027 laureates may also be invited to take part in the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network, where they will be engaged for a series of debut performances in prestigious concert halls around the world.

We are delighted to welcome the four pianists who will form our 2026–2027 cohort:

Over the next nine months, they will take part in a residency devoted to the art of collaboration between voice and piano, bringing together the Faculté de musique - Université de Montréal and the Schulich School of Music of McGill University through recitals, masterclasses and artistic encounters.

GERGELY MADARAS, CHEF INVITÉ DU CONCOURS 2027 ✨

C'est le chef hongrois Gergely Madaras qui dirigera l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal lors de la Finale du Concours 2027, les 4-5 mai prochain. Six finalistes auront l'occasion de se produire sur la scène de la Maison symphonique avec l'OSM, orchestre officiel du Concours.

Reconnu pour sa capacité à réunir énergie et expressivité, précision et passion sur le podium, Gergely Madaras a récemment été nommé « Chef d'orchestre de l'année » lors des Bartok Radio Awards. Il a occupé le poste de directeur musical de l’Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège de 2019 à 2025, où son mandat couronné de succès fut salué par sa nomination au titre de Citoyen d’honneur de la ville.

GERGELY MADARAS, GUEST CONDUCTOR OF THE CONCOURS 2027 ✨

Hungarian conductor Gergely Madaras will lead the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal for the Final Round of the Concours 2027, on May 4-5. Six finalists will have the opportunity to perform on stage at the Maison symphonique with the OSM, the Concours' official orchestra.

Recognized for his ability to combine energy and expressiveness, precision and passion on the podium, Madaras was named 2025 “Conductor of the Year” at the Bartók Radio Awards. He served as Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège from 2019–2025, where his successful tenure was marked by his being named an Honorary Citizen of the City.
