Muse Entertainment Strikes First-Look Deal with Award-Winning Journalist Rachel Browne

MONTREAL: June 24, 2025 - Muse Entertainment has signed an exclusive deal with Toronto-based journalist Rachel Browne to work with Muse’s unscripted team to develop and produce premium doc series for the Canadian and international markets.

“Rachel is one of Canada’s most respected investigative journalists, whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with for the past five years, I’m thrilled to be bringing her further into the fold,” says Jonas Prupas, managing director, Muse Ontario.

Muse and Browne have collaborated on several doc features and series in both development and production, with Browne contributing to current productions such as recently announced Running Smoke for CBC.

Browne’s work has been recognized by the Canadian Association of Journalists, the Digital Publishing Awards, the National Magazine Awards, and more. She has worked with Muse and other production companies in developing and producing documentary features and series including Witness for CBC, The Dark Side of Comedy for VICE TV, and Water is the New Fire for The Weather Network. Browne is also a Contributing Writer at The Walrus magazine where she publishes longform investigations. Previously, Browne was a senior reporter at VICE, where she produced the documentaries Rat Park and Steel Town Down.

“I am excited to continue working with Muse in bringing compelling and dynamic projects to life,” says Browne.

Some of Muse’s past unscripted projects include Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy Wars (Netflix), Gangland Chronicles (History), The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith (Amazon Prime), and For Heaven’s Sake (Paramount +).

We are very excited to announce Muse Entertainment’s latest movie in the AURORA TEAGARDEN MYSTERIES Franchise: "SOMETHING NEW"

Post-college, 25-year-old Aurora Teagarden (played by Skyler Samuels) moves back to her hometown of Lawrenceton to pursue her grad degree. Working as a teacher’s assistant in a crime fiction class, Aurora is struggling to settle on a thesis. To support her schooling and life, she waitresses at the local diner at night, where she shares her love of researching true crime with her friend Sally, who is set to be married, and with rookie police officer Arthur (played by Evan Roderick). When Sally’s fiancé doesn’t show up at the wedding rehearsal, Aurora and Arthur search for him. When they discover a body, they assume it is Sally’s tardy groom, but when it turns out to be someone else, Sally’s fiancé becomes the main suspect, forcing Aurora and Arthur to find out the truth before Sally walks down the aisle with a possible killer.
