Flux is an undergraduate international relations journal run by IRSAM and staffed by McGill students.

Congratulations to Tito Almeida, our newly selected Editor-in-Chief for the 2023-2024 publishing year! Tito is an Honours Political Science student with a minor in Economics. He has been involved with Flux for two years, starting as a peer reviewer and serving as an editor this year. We look forward to seeing Flux continue to develop under Tito’s leadership next year!

Come get your copy of our winter 2023 edition at our launch party at Thomson House this Tuesday from 6-8pm!

The launch party will also include speeches from the authors about their articles. There will be free pizza and drinks while supplies last, so make sure not to come late! See you there!

❗️Good News: We are looking for new Peer Reviewers for Winter 2023 to join our amazing team that publishes the work of students’ peer-reviewed papers in an International Relations journal! 🤩

This is what we are looking for in a Peer Reviewer:
Time Commitment:
- One time 2-4-hour commitment (depending on the number of articles assigned; ±2h/article) concentrated at the beginning of each semester.
- Applicants must be available for a workshop in late January (a makeup workshop will be made available if necessary).

Skills:
- Mastery of the English language
- Detail-oriented
- Good understanding of how to write an academic paper
- Understanding of international relations
- Ability to work independently

Job: Peer reviewers will review one to three of our undergraduate academic submissions.

You don't need any prior experience.

FLUX is getting started on the second issue of Volume 13 this winter 2023 and we are looking for academic essays from any discipline, preferably from the following subjects: International Relations, Political Sciences, Economics, Sociology, and History.

Your academic paper must have been written for a 300-level course with a minimum grade of A- or 80% and higher.

Submissions must be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 pages (not including notes, references, or cover page).

Please remove your name and other personal identifiers from the document so that we can conduct a blind peer review!

PODCAST EDITORS

❗️Apply to become part of an amazing team of driven individuals that work in publishing student’s peer-reviewed papers in an International Relations journal! 🤩

This is a great opportunity to become the first ever Podcast Editors within this passionate team! 👍

What is this new position?
The Podcast Editor is responsible for organizing Flux's first podcast.
Each article we publish this academic year will have an associated 10-15 minute podcast episode hosted by a Flux staff member, who will speak to an expert in the article's topic (e.g. a professor).
The Podcast Editor will edit the audio to make it smooth and clean (e.g. removing long gaps in conversation).
They will also create an uploading schedule and assist podcast hosts when necessary - including filling in if the writer is unavailable to host their episode.

It is a time commitment of 10 hours throughout the semester and it includes a stipend of 40$
