Water Supply Update – Wednesday, September 3, 12:00 p.m.

The Town of Conception Bay South advises that water tanks are refilling more slowly than expected. Until reserves reach safe levels, the Mandatory Water Conservation Order remains in effect.

Water reserves must return to normal so that fire suppression capabilities can be maintained.

⚠️The State of Emergency cannot be lifted, and businesses cannot reopen, until water levels are safe and adequate.

🚫💧 For the safety of the entire Town, do NOT use water unless it is an emergency, even if water is coming through your taps.

🚨💧STATE OF EMERGENCY ISSUED FOR CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH💧🚨 (SEPTEMBER 2)

~ 2:15 p.m; Please read the following IMPORTANT statement from the Town of Conception Bay South.

"Due to water supply loss from the Regional Water Authority to the Town of Conception Bay South only, the Town has declared a State of Emergency, effective immediately. It appears the Town’s water supply will be completely depleted in short order meaning there will be no water available for homes or businesses.

As a result of this emergency:

🚫All businesses in the Town of Conception Bay South are directed to close immediately to conserve remaining water for Fire Department/emergency use only.
💧A Mandatory Water Conservation Order is in effect. All residents are required to limit water use to emergency needs only.

The Town is working closely with regional partners and emergency services to monitor and address the situation. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available. We appreciate the public’s cooperation as we work together to protect and preserve our water supply.

*Please note that as a result, tonight's Town Council meeting will be postponed until further notice.

The RNC would like to remind students, parents and guardians of the importance of online safety as the 2025-26 school year approaches.

In addition to buying school supplies for back to school, ensuring online safety in today’s digital world is increasingly important. The RNC reminds parents to teach responsible online behavior and set guidelines for their children by following these tips to promote a safe online experience:

- Only use tablets or devices in common areas at home. Parents are advised to keep devices connected to the internet out of bedrooms and other private spaces.
- Know your children’s usernames and passwords, and regularly monitor their online activity.
- Set parental controls to reduce the risk of exposure to sexually explicit content.
- Explain that pictures should only be exchanged with parental permission. Emphasize that once pictures are sent to others they cannot be retracted.
- Discuss appropriate and inappropriate material and maintain open dialogue with your children.
- Teach your children to never give out personal information without your permission.
- Talk to your children about cyber bullying. Tell them not to participate and to tell an adult immediately.
