I have created a new music education opportunity for aspiring musicians ages 10 to adult. About the Academy:
I will be teaching 2 types of classes for all levels – beginning to advanced. The 2 classes are:
1) Digital Audio/Song writing/Composition
2) Ensemble Class
Digital Audio/Song writing/Composition
Students will be instructed in the basics of song creation in a multitude of genres using I
Mac computers and Logic Pro Audio Software. AGES: 10 to adult
NO prior experience nor keyboard skills are needed to enter into this program. Lessons will be sequential and weekly. Some basic music theory and piano keyboard skills will be taught (where necessary)
The classes will be 90 minutes long and blocked into 14 week “semesters” with the 15th week (Dec. 16-20) as a “catch-up” week
Classes will be available during the day, after school hours and some evenings and weekends to accommodate students attending public school and adults with day jobs. Each weekly class will begin with a 20-30 minute lesson followed by assignments and supervised work time pertaining to the lesson. The classes will follow the school district calendar and all school holidays (Christmas/Easter/Spring break, etc) will be the same. The classes WILL, however, be scheduled though on school Pro-D days. Classes will commence the week of September 9-15, 2013
Ensemble Class
Students will be placed in an ensemble based on experience and playing level. Ensembles will be instructed in a variety of contemporary genres and will learn the essentials of group dynamics, individual instrument roles and team work in learning to become a viable performing band. A repertoire (set) of songs will be amassed and opportunities to perform for an audience will be created. AGES: 10 to adult
Please Note: This is NOT a private instruction class on your instrument. Facility on the instrument and ongoing private instruction is a must! This is an opportunity to collaborate with musicians and learn to become a band. At least 1 year of study on an instrument or voice and ongoing private lessons highly recommended. Will primarily learn rock, pop, jazz, funk
Learning songs, transcriptions, your instrument’s role in an ensemble, grooves, styles, improvisation and are the focus areas. Levels are novice, intermediate and advanced
The studio will be set up for 16 track recording so rehearsal recordings and demos are available at all times. The classes will be 90 minutes long and blocked into 14 week “semesters” with the 15th week (Dec. 16-20) as a “catch-up” week
Classes will be available during the day, after school hours and some evenings and weekends to accommodate students attending public school and adults with day jobs.
