Pray
Stop playing games with God. Get on your knees and pray. Some of the addictions you’re struggling with will only be broken by prayer. Some struggles are not merely habitual but also spiritual. Some habits look natural but they are spiritual bondages. If you have tried your best to change and failed, maybe it’s time to take it to the Lord in prayer. With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
Why are you experiencing unexplainable early deaths in your family? Why does sickness, disease and depression continually oppress your family? Why does everyone in your family divorce or live in an abusive marriage? Why do you all struggle financially? Didn’t Jesus destroy poverty, diseases and curses on the cross? Some generational struggles in your family line will only be broken by prayer. You have authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).
You can’t pray for someone and fight them. Prayer is the route to permanent peace in families. Family and moral foundations are breaking. When the foundations get shaken, what shall the righteous do (Psalm 11:3)? Are your prayers going unanswered or you’re simply not praying? Corrie Ten Boom asked, ‘Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?’ Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Saint Augustine advised, ‘Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.’
While it’s ok to pray as you drive to work, schedule prayers. Not just ‘quality’ time, but plan to spend ample time with God in prayers. At least an hour every day. Jesus asked His disciples why they couldn’t pray for an hour (Matthew 26:40). Prayer is a discipline you cultivate. You spend time with those you love. Why is it easier to club the whole night and complain for being in a prayer meeting for an hour?
Prayer is the gate to open heavens. The most beautiful spot is the secret place of prayer. God cannot reject a praying soul. Prayer arrests God’s attention, delights His heart and opens His hands. God saves by prayers. You’re standing on your way of breakthrough by your prayerless life. Prayer is not about having the right words but the right heart. A heart full of gratitude, humility and faith.
Philippians 4:6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
