HOSTING GOD'S GLORY
WHAT MADE THE BUSH DIFFERENT?
As I was reading and reflecting on God's Word today in Exodus 3:2-5, something deeply stirred my spirit.
Exodus 3:2-5,
"There the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up..."
I realized that the miracle was not the
fire.
The miracle was the vessel carrying it.
The bush was ordinary.
It was not a cedar.
It was not an olive tree.
It was not the tallest tree in the wilderness.
It was just a bush.
Yet God chose it.
It was just a bush.
Yet God chose it.
Then the Lord spoke something to my heart:
"What made the bush special was not what it was. It was Who it hosted."
The bush did not create the fire.
It simply hosted the presence of God.
And suddenly I understood that God is still looking for people who will host His presence.
People spend years trying to become powerful.
God is looking for people willing to become available.
Many want God's gifts.
Many want God's blessings.
Many want God's power.
But few desire God's presence.
But it was the voice that transformed him.

As Moses moved closer, God said:
"Take off your sandals."
Before the calling came surrender.
Before the assignment came holiness.
Before the glory came consecration.
The sandals represented everything
Moses had picked up along his journey.
The dust of Egypt.
The dust of disappointment.
The dust of failure.
The dust of self-reliance.
God was teaching Moses a powerful lesson:
You cannot host heaven while holding on to everything earth has placed on you.
Then another revelation came to me.
Years later Moses would pray:
Perhaps he remembered how a simple bush carried the presence of God and was not consumed.
And maybe deep within his heart he wondered:
"If a bush can host His glory, what can happen when a man completely surrenders himself to God?"
The bush burned with God's presence.
Then Moses became the bush.
The glory that appeared before him eventually rested upon him.
The same man who once stood watching the fire eventually carried the fire.
His face shone with the glory of God.
What attracted him eventually transformed him.
What he observed eventually became what he carried.
The Lord then impressed this truth upon my spirit:
God never intended Moses to spend his
And perhaps that is God's desire for us today.
Not merely to talk about His presence.
Not merely to admire His glory.
Not merely to read about His power.
But to host Him.
Because at the end of the day, the bush is remembered for one reason:
God was there.
May our lives be remembered the same way.
Not because of our titles.
Not because of our achievements.
Not because of our influence.
But because the presence of God rested upon us.
And when people encountered us, they encountered Him.

QUESTION
Moses was attracted by the fire, but transformed by the presence.
Are you pursuing God's hand, or are you pursuing God's presence?
