Because a wedding isn’t a checklist. It’s a day full of real, messy, unrepeatable human moments — and you can’t catch those if you’re too busy panicking about the ones on your list.
But letting go only works if the foundation is solid. So here’s what I actually built underneath the calm:
Know your gear so well you’re not thinking about it. Muscle memory, not menus.
Know how to work the light — every scenario. Harsh noon sun, dim receptions, backlit fields at golden hour. No lighting situation should scare you.
And know how to be with people. Talk to them. Laugh with them. Move through the day like you’re a guest who happens to have a camera — not a stranger barking poses.
Nail those three things and you don’t need the checklist.
You get to be present. And present is where the best photos have always lived. 🤍
