Big effort by this amazing team of staff and volunteers at Caetani Centre today! We rescued the lilacs at the front from being absolutely choked by landscape fabric, sheet mulched some areas and got good and drenched doing it when the much-needed rain arrived. We are working to revitalize the gardens at the Centre over the next while, building soil and organic matter, removing invasive species and dead trees, creating mini "destinations" around the grounds and generally loving her up in a big way, all inspired by the art and family of Sveva Caetani :) We continue to be thankful to Community Foundation North Okanagan for the Smart and Caring Communities fund for helping us apply some climate-adaptations, some land repairs and build community and collaboration while doing it.

Just a head's up that we will be closed July 10-31st for a much needed break after 4 years of serving the Okanagan. Back rested and raring to go in August! If you'd like to chat now about a project for the Fall, give us a shout. Thank you to all of our sweet, sweet clients so far in 2025, we're building soil and community, growing food and flowers together and it's amazing :) Happy summer!

Bringing together art and permaculture is a match made in heaven! This project has already been very inspiring and motivational to work on. Many thanks to the dedicated and passionate staff, volunteers, residents and artists giving their input on what this cultural gem can and will be in the future.

June gets so busy, posting becomes harder! We still have some organic straw bales available, but not for much longer. We're helping clients with design, installation, soil building, mulching, plant selection, organizing and prioritizing garden and landscape needs, composting, getting rainwater systems ready for the rain that's coming. All the things! Here are a few photos to enjoy!

Alright local gardeners and "permies", the first load of straw is GONE and I am debating getting another load. Will you need any organic bales for your food growing projects? Let me know ASAP, thanks so much :) Please share with your fellow land lubbers.

we helped with the rain barrel project last year, anyone want to chat about ideas with us for this year?

The City of Vernon is now accepting applications for the 2025 Sustainability Grant Program! 🌱

From May 21 to June 25, applications are being accepted for grants of up to $2,000 to support local projects that encourage environmental action and build a more sustainable future.

In recent years, grant recipients have:

🌱 Expanded a community seed library at the Okanagan Regional Library,
🌧 Installed a rain barrel program and offered water conservation education
🎨 Created public art that encourages sustainable living,
📓Launched educational programs on native plant restoration with local students.

What we support today becomes part of how Vernon grows and adapts.
