In my past life, which I will refer to as Chapter 1, I was a music video producer. Those that know me well, know that I used to make trips down to Nashville often to see my singer girlfriend (using her song in this post), who moved there 6 months after we started dating.
Surprise!
Maybe she was trying to shake me.
Spoiler alert - it didn’t work.
All those trips paid off and we are now married with 2 kids.
Anyway, as the story unfolds, Chapter 2 began in Alberta with us both moving there to regroup and then we opened a restaurant with barely 2 pennies to rub together. When you have a thin budget, you get VERY creative so as if pounding nails, sanding floors, tiling, menu planning, hunting for staff, training and all the other 1 million things that go into a business weren’t enough, I decided to use my own photos for restaurant decor.
I just thought it was a cool little “tip of the hat” to our past lives.
I snapped this on one of those trips to Nashville from Vancouver and got this photo blown up on a canvas, and it lived in the restaurant since we opened. I think the new owner is replacing it with something that means more to them, as one should, but it’s still one of my favourites because it means more to the both of us than what meets the eye.
We have so many fond memories of those days.
They say a photo is worth a thousand words, but I talk a lot.
