Homestead Update ❄️💧

We managed to get our water lines thawed and had running water for a few days… but with these cold temperatures, they’ve frozen again. The good news is we can thaw the frozen section when it happens, so we’re staying on top of it as best we can.

Right now we’re almost out of water, so today we’ll be making a trip down to the lake to pump more. Not ideal, but it’s all part of off-grid living and adapting to winter as it comes.

One day at a time, learning as we go, and staying grateful we’re able to make it work. 🤍🌲

If you enjoy following our off-grid journey, please like, comment, or share — every bit of support truly helps us keep going and means more than you know 🤍

Line-out training is a foundational skill in sled dog sports. This stage focuses on teaching patience, impulse control, and consistency before any forward movement happens. When working with a team—manners on the line are essential for safety and clear communication. 🧠

You’ll notice the lead dog is tethered forward during this process. This prevents him from turning around or wandering, and it’s incredibly important because the lead dog sets the example for the rest of the team. His focus and position influence the dogs behind him. 🐕‍🦺

A calm, steady line-out sets the tone for the entire run. These dogs love this work so much that standing still is often the hardest part, which is exactly why this training matters. ⏳

There’s something so grounding about these quiet, ordinary moments.
They remind me why we chose this path.

I wouldn’t change a thing.

Tell me — do you crave simple living too, or are you a city-at-heart person?
