A message from Senka on behalf of the flo. Team:
Goodbyes and New Beginnings
flo.ās issue 07,āHome,ā will be our last.
Part of me wants to make a goodbye statement that includes words like āsadlyā and āheavy heart,ā but this sort of language would contradict the joy and love that flo. has brought me. And, truthfully, I love endings just as much as I love beginnings; they create room for new voices and different approaches. I hope to see flo.ās ending become a beginning for another keen twenty-year-old with a big idea.
On behalf of myself, Erin, Kat, and Jen, thank you to everyone who has ever submitted to us, entrusted us with their writing, purchased our issues or donated to the publication, and worked with us in any capacity. Particularly, weād like to recognize the contributions of Salem and Maya, who both brought unmatchable energy and vibes to the team.
And a personal thank you from me goes to Erin and Kat. The types of friends you need are those that say āheck yesā when you suggest starting a literary magazine for no other reason than itās Monday and you feel like it.
To phase ourselves out of existence, or as the yuppies like to say āliquidate our assets,ā we have a few upcoming events that will gradually mark our closure as a publication.
With love and appreciation,
Senka
P.S. A quote that I love from Canthiusās interview with founder Clare Farley: āAlso, little magazines start and stop all the time but that burst of energy, even if itās short-lived, is incredibly important.ā
