RICK'S CELEBRATION OF LIFE

A Celebration of Life will be held for Richard Morrison "Rick" on Saturday, May 31st, at the Kanata Golf Club from 2-5 PM. 7000 Campeau Drive, Kanata, Ontario.

Rick passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2025. He leaves behind his loving partner of 15 years, Cheryl Gosson, and her extended family. He was the special dad of Marc (Gia) and Sean (Erica). Rick was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Barb Morrison, and his brother, Brian. He is survived by his sister, Cathy Hale (Steve), and brother, Cory Morrison (Shannan). Rick was also the uncle and great-uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Rick will be forever missed. The Morrison, Gosson and Hale families invite friends and family to join us in celebrating Rick's beautiful life.

Tributes will begin at 3:00 PM

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Rick Morrison, President of Big Jump Entertainment. Rick was a visionary leader whose unwavering passion and dedication transformed our company and the Ottawa animation industry over four decades.

As the Executive Producer at Big Jump Entertainment and his former studio, Funbag Animation, Rick oversaw the creation of hundreds of hours of original content, spearheaded numerous co-productions, and solidified Ottawa’s position as a hub for the Canadian animation industry. His unwavering commitment to excellence and storytelling was evident in everything he touched, leaving an indelible creative mark on countless Canadian and US productions.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rick was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light within the Big Jump family. His legacy will continue to inspire us as we move forward, honouring his memory through our unwavering dedication to the craft and industry he cherished so deeply.

During this difficult time, our thoughts are with Rick’s family and loved ones.
