Happy Thanksgiving!
Well, the holidays ended with a bang……literally ‼️
I was so excited to finally get a vacation and renting houseboats is one of my family’s favourite things to do. We decided not to have a traditional Thanksgiving, but to rent a houseboat during the last open weekend and celebrate, looking at the beautiful fall foliage and grilling turkey breast on the boat. If you know the our family, you know that things never go as planned. We’re like the Portuguese edition of the Griswolds.
This rental company was not great at all, and the boats were not maintained with all the renters having issues all over the waters. When we first arrived, we didn’t have working water pumps. Second, our electricity went out three hours away from the dock. Third, the boat’s propeller broke and we had to have a new one put on. Last, but definitely not least, 1 mile away from being back to the docks to leave the engine blew up and we were towed back.
The point of posting this is if it would’ve gone smoothly, would we actually remember this vacation? Isn’t it all the mishaps and pulling the hair out that makes us laugh about things later in life? The ride back home I think we relived every disaster and laughed hysterically. We may take for granted the things to be thankful for, but mine without a doubt this year is that I’m thankful for family that I can make memories with.
Happy Thanksgiving and may you always find laughter in the things that don’t go as planned.
