A few weeks after my live CBC Radio “All in a Day” interview, I got a message from two guys in Enid, Oklahoma.
“Peter — we’d love to have you on The 70s Buzz podcast to talk about your 50th reunion.”
I immediately said yes. What I didn’t fully appreciate was that I was about to jump on an 80-minute, no-time-limit, back-deck-beer-style chat with two lifelong buddies who live and breathe 1970s nostalgia.
Curtis and Todd have been running The 70s Buzz since 2017 and just crossed one million downloads. They do one guest per episode and let the conversation go wherever it wants — the complete opposite of my tight five-minute CBC segment.
We laughed a lot and roamed all over the map: not just reunion stuff, but pure 1970s memories. I took the original 1 hour 20 minute recording and edited it down to a lively 22 minutes, paired with vintage 70s photos and yearbook shots.
This whole reunion chase continues to be one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve taken on in years. The conversations, memories, and laughter — it all still works. Fifty years on and we pick up right where we left off.
