Sherry McDonald stopped by our studios to pick up her prize package - she was our Country 93 Local Hero for May!
In case you missed it, here's Sherry's story: Her nominator, Karen, wrote, "Sherry is the nutrition manager at Rockwood Terrace. Recently, a resident approached her with a recipe she was eager to try. Sherry saw an opportunity to create a special experience for a small group of residents by initiating a "Dinner Club". She featured a menu inspired by the resident's suggested recipe. The menu included Shrimp linguine, spring salad, croissants, fresh asparagus and Queen Elizabeth cake, with specialty teas and strawberry margaritas. She brought in her own china, tablecloth, centrepiece and glasses to create an elegant dining experience and stayed after hours on her own time to prepare the food and serve the meal. The event was attended by the resident who suggested the recipe and five other residents, making it a cozy and intimate gathering. One of the participants said, 'You have given me, at 93, a very special highlight that I will never forget.'
Sherry intends to host the Dinner Club every other month, inviting a new group of residents each time to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate."
