Happy Holidaze Blackfly Friends & Readers!

As I write this update Old Man Winter sure is having a field day with this first real snowstorm of the season....it's a good day to curl up & get some paperwork done!

The latest issue of the Gazette is out & about & currently available at stores in Perth-Andover, Plaster Rock & Arthurette. Stories & articles in this edition of the Blackfly include pix & info about some of the wonderful Christmas Craft Bazaars that have been happening around & about: The P-A Christmas Market at the Elks Lodge was packed with shoppers & lots of vendors & was great fun!

The annual Hotel Dieu Christmas Craft Fair had vendors stretched along every corridor making for an adventurous shopping mission with many cool items & services.

The Christmas Bazaar at the Arthurette Legion had many vendors & lots of cool stuff and had an artist I had not yet met: Amanda Wright had a brilliantly colorful display of her art. She works in multiple mediums including collage, recycling colorful pieces cut from sources such as old magazines to create a stained glass effect: I love the dragonfly piece I bought!

I don't know if any more Christmas Bazaars are gonna take place, but you can contact most local crafters on social media if you missed them at the market.

A new record was set during the annual Santa Merry Mile Run, downtown businessman Chris McGuire has taken on an apprentice at McGuire's Barbershop: High School student Alex Hopkins commutes from Wicklow every Saturday to learn the trade & craft of barbering.

Check out the gorgeous seasonal plants & flowers at Plant's Flower Pot, where you will also find hand painted greeting cards as well as artwork & products made by local artists & artisans.

The bottle depot has a new owner & now recycles more stuff like small appliances and you can also arrange to have large appliances picked up and hauled away.

There's more, plus of course all the regular Blackfly features & columns.

Hope you enjoy this issue & thanks for reading!

Hello Blackfly Readers & Friends!

Can you believe December is here? Well, a day away as I write this anyway...this year has just whizzed by which means Christmas will be here, like, next week haha.

Anyway, the current gazette that's out & about has lots of info & stories: Check out the latest PAFD & Village contributions to local non-profits, Remembrance Day, see the Legion Chase the Ace winner erupt with joy upon finding that ace, Wellness by Carol is now offering services in Perth-Andover, Chef Matt Francis & his team are now serving delicious food at the newly opened Wolastoq Cafe at the Neqotkuk Ultramar, the Plaster Rock Lions annual Silent Auction was a great success, and anyone looking for ethnic food items should definitely check out the amazingly well-stocked Triple T Multicultural Market in Woodstock!

Plus you'll find all the usual/regular features & columns!

Hope you enjoy this issue & thanks for reading!

Hello Blackfly Friends & Readers!

Got a kinda late update for you here (with color pix) of the latest/current edition of the Gazette that's still out & about. Got a new issue in the works, but in the meantime here's a recap of stories & info included in Blackfly #347!

The latest inductees into the Perth Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship are celebrated in this issue: Jeanne Cronk and Ron Dube are two sincerely deserving and awesome local citizens who make life better for everyone in our community.

The Upper Kent United Church has just celebrated its 170th anniversary but unfortunately the Anniversary Service scheduled for last Sunday was cancelled due to inclement weather. There will be a party & service in the spring, when the weather is nice, but in the meantime Cari Grierson wrote up a bit of the history of this lovely old church for the Blackfly. The simple building has one of the most beautiful & historic stained glass windows in our community churches.

Nursing Homes Without Walls celebrated its second anniversary with a luncheon and information session at the Perth Elks Lodge on November 3rd. This pilot program was begun in New Brunswick and has proven so successful that the concept will be expanded into other provinces. NHWW Lead Seniors Navigator Kim Steeves & MLA Margaret Johnson both addressed the audience about the program's many success stories and how NHWW will continue to grow and become part of more nursing homes in the province.

So Halloween is over, and great fun was had by all at various pumpkin painting parties and Trunk-or-Treat gatherings where lots of sweets were distributed and folks had fun with their displays & costumes.

All Folk'd Up Radio (formerly The Bridge Radio) celebrated its 5th anniversary with an Open House, Bob LaFrance regaled readers with More Tilley Nostalgia, David Goss asked readers Is November Really the Darkest Month, and more.

Hope you enjoy this issue, thanks for reading & I'll have the new edition ( #348) out ASAP!

Cheers,
Steph

tl;dr version: The wrong edition of the new Blackfly Gazette got printed by accident & I can't fix it until after the weekend.

Dear Blackfly Friends & Readers:

There was a mix-up at the printer with the new Blackfly Gazette I picked up & delivered yesterday: Although it had the correct front page (see attached image!), the rest of the issue were a reprint of the previous edition but I did not discover this until after 5 pm yesterday.

I am so sorry for any inconvenience! I'll get the actual real new late August issue #342 out as soon as I can this coming Tuesday! I can't do anything until then because of the holiday.

If you bought one of those misprinted issues yesterday, you can return it for a refund or wait until this coming Tuesday to trade for the correct edition. (Once I pick them up & get 'em delivered)

I'd wish everyone a Happy Labour Day, but looking out my office window I think only the plants & gardens are appreciating this weather...

Thanks so much for reading, see you in a couple of days with the real BFG #342!
