Hello Blackfly Friends & Readers!

My apologies for this very late update for the latest issue of the gazette, but the circumstances have been a bit extenuating: I got that Plague Cold From Hell that's been going around and it seriously kicked my butt, but I think I shall live.

But then I also just got totally played out while working on the new issue for May, and did not get it to the printer in time to pick up before they closed for the weekend. So, I will be picking up the new issue #334 tomorrow (Monday) & delivering it around the village & I am very, very sorry to be so late!

In the meantime, in case you missed it there are still a few copies of issue #333 around & about & this post contains color pix of the stories & articles including the wonderful Easter Basket Social Fundraiser at Burns Hall, the Perth Elks Lodge hosted Grand Exalted Ruler Myles Reid & his wife Annie for a lovely evening social, David Goss found a Perfect Go Cart frame, McGuire's Barbershop now has two barbers, plus other odd & ends & editorial commentary plus all the regular features: Puzzle page, obituaries, Free Will Astrology, etc.

Hope you enjoy the issue, and thanks for reading!

Hello Blackfly Friends & Readers!

We're coming to the end of April, how time flies...Today is Earth Day and, if we could just see through the clouds socking us in with this cold, drizzly damn weather we could be watching the tail end of the Lyrid meteor shower. Hopefully the sun will shine again the next few days as there's more cool night action coming: April 25th is the night of the Celestial Smiley Face, Venus will be at her brightest on the 27th, and on the 29th four planets will be visible at once.

There are still copies of the current Blackfly out and about around town. Issue #331 features articles and stories about the Elks Benefit Breakfast for AES Home & School, how our library is a vital community resource and hub, the Bill Stearman Quiltivist Trunk Show that's coming to town, Host an International Student information, and the SVHS Heritage Fair. This was the first heritage fair this class had done (that covid blip) and it was quite entertaining to meet the students and chat about their various projects and enthusiasms.

All the regular features and columns and more stuff going on around town will be found in this issue as well. I'm working on the next issue right now, will have out and about ASAP but in the meantime here are the photos in living color to go with the current edition of the Blackfly Gazette.

Thanks for reading & hope you enjoy the issue!

Cheers,
Steph

Hello Blackfly Friends & Readers!

Holiday Chaos kind of took over so I was running late with the gazette, but the first issue of 2025 is out & about and available at stores in Perth-Andover, Plaster Rock & Arthurette; the next issue will be out later this coming week.

This current issue features some of fun stuff going on around town, including a recap of the wonderful Sounds of the Season & Treats matinee performance at the P-A Baptist Church, the Sewell Shaw Volunteerism Awards, P-A Public Library events, Winter Activities at Mt. Carleton Provincial Park, Mind-Body Connections with Carol Earle, Porter O'Brien Consulting Services, and a chat with Madison Morgan, the new director at New Beginnings.

There is also an interview with Nathan Spencer, who is the new Community School Coordinator and I am so very sorry but I mixed up photos and ran an image of SVHS Principal Justin Tompkins instead of Nathan with the article: My apologies to both! This update features a photo of the real Nathan Spencer...I try not to do stuff like that but sometimes stuff happens haha.

And of course this issue has all the regular features & columns & info about more fun events headed our way!

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy the issue & cheers!

Happy Holidays!

It's the Winter Solstice today and it indeed sure looks & feels like winter is really here and maybe we'll have a white Christmas? Kinda looks that way on the Weather Network anyway...

Blackfly Publication date change: Due to general Holiday Chaos and, more importantly, the fact that the print shop will be closed most of Christmas week when the next issue is scheduled to come out, the next edition of the Blackfly will be out the week following, on January 1st. I am sorry for any inconvenience or confusion!

In the meantime, the latest issue of the gazette is out and about and has some fun stories to check out!

There's a little recap of our wonderful Santa Claus Parade, a chat with Thunder Hockey Coaches and the importance of Minor Hockey in our communities, Derek Tupper won the $500 Shop Local Christmas in the Village Draw, River Valley Radio has launched a SVHS sports fundraiser, Hillcrest Christmas Market, the TRTC Christmas Market, P-A's first Santa Claus Run, Plant's Flower Pot & Gifts one year anniversary, book launch at the library, a visit to a nice little antiques & collectibles store over in The Fort, checking in at The Boardwalk Emporium and more local events and happenings. Plus of course all of the regular Blackfly features and columns!

Thank you very much for reading & I hope you enjoy this issue & have a wonderful Christmas!!!

Cheers,
Steph

Hello Blackfly Friends & Readers!
