The Region of Durham is reducing Kingston Road to a single lane in Ajax starting Aug. 24 for Durham-Scarborough BRT station foundation work. Lane restrictions will advance to intersections including Salem Road, Harwood Avenue, and Westney Road, with each location lasting 4–6 weeks.

Durham police used their Drone as First Responder (DFR) program to track two 14-year-old suspects after an armed robbery in Oshawa. The suspects fled on foot but were caught with the drone’s help. The victim was not physically injured.

The body of pilot David Douglas, 73, has been found after an extensive search following his disappearance on Aug. 14. Aircraft debris was recovered from Wolf Lake, about 66 km northeast of Oshawa. The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Metrolinx is adding extra GO train trips on the Lakeshore East line for the CNE, which runs Aug. 21–Sept. 7. Extra daytime trains from Whitby GO and late-night returns from Union Station are being added to help eventgoers get home safely. Kids 12 and under ride free.

The Region of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Simcoe Street North in Oshawa starting Aug. 24. The work will take place from 125 metres north of Northern Dancer Drive to Northern Dancer Drive to construct a new entrance for development. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and work crews.

Ajax home prices climbed 4.5% month-over-month to $907,336 in July, according to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board. Sales rose 5.7% compared to last year, while active listings dropped 10.2%. Detached homes averaged over $1.03 million.
